The room was quite good value for a double as compared to a hostel say, and was pretty clean with standard facililities, and better all round than a hostel. However the room looked like an interior design exercise in a cheap lack lustre seventies style. So good in fact that it wouldn't surprise me if the whole room with its furniture, fittings and television! had been left unchanged since then! Even down to the no effort whatso ever colour schemes. However being a hardcore budget traveller this shouldn't bother you and there were cooking facilities in the room which is always a big plus and there's a proper 24 hr reception and everything. Just don't expect too much and remember to bring you're afro!

Top Local Tips for Perth

Free bus service The free bus service is very efficient and quick. However the route that passes by the WACA stops for about 10 minutes for the driver to stretch his/her legs. Very frustrating.

Tourist Trifecta The tourist trifecta is a great way to see Perth and Freemantle. The tram drivers were very friendly and knowledgable.

Public Transport All bus travel in the central area of Perth is free. For destinations further afield buy a day ticket (convering trains and buses) for £3.33. Don't rely on the ticket machines at stations etc. - purchase direct from a bus driver - so long as you have the correct change!!
