I was there for a weekend this past month and must say that they have left a bad taste in my mouth for Australian hospitality. They did not have my required room ready and put me in a room so small that it only fit one bed. When a room with 2 beds opened up they moved my luggage and lost my toiletry bag. When I called about this they made it seem like it was my fault that they lost my bag. On leaving the hotel with no success of finding my bag management politely gave me his card so that I may email him my concerns. However I have not gotten a response to date. Though a very beautiful place to visit this experience has tarnished perhaps my only chance to see the true Australia.

If you're used to thick, fluffy towels, nice views and comfy beds, you'd better look elsewhere. We found this to be a very basic hotel, providing only the essentials for our stay, which given the price we paid is all we could ask for, really. We stayed in a family room, with two separate rooms (which I must admit was nice) and an incredibly tiny, tiny bathroom - the shower door almost hit the toilet seat when you opened it. We'd also recommend eating elsewhere as the hotel restaurants are quite pricey, surprising given the 3 star quality of the rooms.

Take a trip to St Kilda take a tram to St kilda its only about 20 mins and its got a beach and lovely little main street with lots of restaurants , also has Luna Park fun fair great for kids

Best weekdays to visit Melbourne is a culture lovers paradise. There are usually several shows and events to choose from on any given day. Your choice of "on the day" tickets is severely limited however if your are visiting on a Monday or a Tuesday as these are the nights that many shows take a break. Half price tickets to many shows and concerts can be obtained on the day from the Half-Tix office on the ground floor of the Town Hall.

Shopping mad Transport: $2.50 on Sundays for unlimited trips in zone 1 & 2 (bus, train, tram). On other days just get on the tram and don't pay because no one seems to check, but keep a look out just in case! Shopping: Bourke St mall (Myer & DJs), Brunswick St (many boutique shops), Acland St (shops and cafes), Bridge Rd (warehouses) & Chapel St (designers). Schedule approx. 1/2day for all except if you intend to walk the entire lenght of Chapel St then 1 whole day.
