Warning, Bedbugs!

My wife and I have travelled the world staying in everything from 1 star to 5 star accommodations. However, nothing prepared us for this hotel On our first night there, we were absolutely devoured by bedbugs. That's right, over 100 bites each! In the morning, we pulled back the sheets to find the mattress swarming with the little red bugs. The manager came up, saw the bugs and muttered something about " they seem to be becoming resistant to the poison". Although he moved us for our second night, he refused to comp us for even a single nights stay saying that it "wasn't their fault". Absolutely unbelievable! We are now covered from head to toe with red stinging, itchy welts. Stay here at your own risk.

Appears very nice by picutes, but I would rate it as a 2 star based on other 4 & 5 star rated places I have stayed. Large windows covered by venetian blinds - blades all bent near door handles out to balconies, did not close properly and let as much light in as having no window coverings. Very run down looking rooms, air conditioner in main bedroom in poor state. Insinkerator was very offensive and could be smelt as soon as door was opened. Wind howled through window gaps all night. Reception office was filthy - felt like I was checking in to a backpackers - only that I had prepaid on the internet, I would have gone elsewhere.

Top Local Tips for Melbourne

Queen Victoria Market and Circle Line Trolley Definitely check out the Queen Victoria Market as it boasts over 1k stalls of merchandise, souveniers, clothing, etc! It was like Sydney's Paddy's Market, but even BIGGER. So if you like bargains, you HAVE to check out the QVM! The Circle Line Trolley is free and runs around the CBD in a clear, roundable fashion - so jump on and off at practically every corner around town for a scenic tour of the city, pre-recorded commentary provided, or just a free lift for your aching feet!

Queen Victoria markets make sure you time your visit for the days the Market is open - it really is an experience!

Trams are the way to go If you're going to Bridge road, catch the free City Circle tram which goes to flinders station, on that road you can catch either the 48 or 75 tram which will take you straight to bridge road! Tram tickets are totally worth their weight in gold, as it's a sprawling city. Beware with St Kilda though! If there's a festival on, you may have to walk some distance to get to the beach or Luna park as they stop the 96 tram past st Kilda station. There are other alternatives which take you closer (e.g. tram 16), and on the weekend, I'd totally recommend taking those.
