All the things you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Perfect location for a stay in Melbourne - but nothing making it a "must stay" or any better than the other 5 star hotels in Melbourne. If you get a good deal then this is your place.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Crown Towers Hotel

Will Definitely Stay Here Again AAA+++

from vickystoj
We flew down to Melbourne to see INXS play and were pleasantly surprised upon check in to find the guys themselves in the hotel lobby, as fellow guests!

The hotel is 10 stars in my opinion, facilities are excellent, the rooms (we had the Deluxed spa twin room on the 23rd floor) were furnished beautifully, gorgeous views, and the service was by far the absolute best I have ever encountered in all my hotel stays in various hotels. Fantastic! Very friendly, not at all pretentious, loved the service :)

I highly recommend if you are visiting Melbourne, that you choose Crown Towers, as the casino is in the same building, and as I said the service alone is worth it!

Well worth the money

from BartlettsAgent
This is an excellent hotel to experience the Southbank in Melbourne. The standard rooms (Deluxe) are nicely furnished and impossibly clean considering how much glass etc there is. The beds are very comfy with two soft pillows each- if you want a firmer one or a hypo-allergenic they are in the closet. The bathroom is large with a small TV over the bath which is a nice touch. We were disappointed by the spa bath however which had a jet just where you wanted to lie back so you couldn't have the spa on and lie back in comfort. The shower is huge with a handy ledge for shampoos etc. The toiletries provided are above average standard so no need to bring your own. Big plasma TV in each room with lots of channels including Sports and TV1 and Fox 8. The minibar is a small fridge rather than a special mini bar so there is room to store a couple of drinks of your own in there. We took our 6 month old with us and although we took our own travel cot we asked for a highchair in the room - this was a disaster! It was far too big for a 6 month old with no restraints so we couldn't use it - so I'm not sure how good the cots would be either. There is room to park a stroller in the walk in robe and as you may have to park in the main complex (5-10mins walk from reception) it's worth taking it with you to the room rather than having to go back to the car. The lesiure facilities are well worth a visit - a good tip though go down in your robe (provided in the room) rather than change there as the lockers don't actually lock! Don't worry - we saw lots of people doing that so you won't look silly! Towels etc are provided at the pool which has a large swimming area and kids pool. There is a small bubble section in the main pool and a steam room. The sitting area around the pool is very oppulent with plenty of nice loungers - there is also an outside terrace if the weather is nice. I had a massage at the spa and thought it was excellent value for money. Next time though I would book in advance and ask for a Pamering Suite as they looked lovely (and you get your own jacuzzi and steam room for 30mins prior to your treatment). The staff at the spa were very proffesional and took care to ensure my treatment was safe for me as I am breastfeeding my son - I've found a lot of places don't really care about this even though there are lots of oils that are not suitable in pregnancy and breastfeeding. They offer specific treatments for pregnant women but there are restrictions depending on the time of your pregnancy so check first. We didn't try room service but the breakfast in the Conservatory was very good - there was extensive hot and cold choice and reasonably priced considering the hotel's location and clientele. The hotel is ideal for access to the Southbank to save on taxi fares from other parts of the city. Unlike so many "deluxe" hotels you really do get what you pay for at Crown Towers - enjoy!

Great 5*

A great 5 star hotel!

My wife and I stayed here 1 night during February 2006 just after the Australian Open Tennis.

Booked in the Crystal Club room via their own website.

Arrived at the hotel, the reception area really looks nice. All marble. Reception lady was very friendly and escorted us to the crystal club via the elevators. I think the Crystal Club floor was 14. (can't remember now) Signed in at the entrance to the Crystal Club room and got our card keys.

Went down to Floor 12 and opened our door. Great looking room. HUGE. It's the same size for both non-crystal club/crystal club rooms. A huge bathroom laid in marble with glass walls seperating the toilet and the shower. A normal sized bath tub with spa and a small TV on the wall shelf.

Next in line through the corridor is the walk in robe which is big enough to change in easily and put all your baggage into. It had various different types of pillows as well as two bath robes.

Now the bed room. It has a very nice plasma screen on top of a nice looking tv cabinet. It looked like a 127cm Plasma but it may have been a 106cm.. But it looked very nice nonetheless. The King size bed was very comfortable and it wasn't a dual-single-side-by-side either.

We had the West-end of the view so could see the River, city and hotel tennis courts down below. View was great and looked stunning at night. Curtain blocked out the light well as well if needed.

Crystal Club - During 5-6pm or arount there, ALL alcohol / beverages are free. (spirits, some basic coktails and beer) Also there are cookies, cakes, chocolaes as well as a very nice mini spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce. ( I ate too much which made me not hungry for any dinner..) Atmosphere was nice and there were a lot of different types of magazines as well. I couldn't get my laptop to work with the wireless internet for some reason and so a tech was sent over to help me but he didn't know why either. (I'm a tech myself and it surely wasn't my laptop's issue...)

Oh, a big bonus was to see some celebrities while we were there. My wife spotted a lady with a very expensive looking dress and it was Bec Cartwright and she had the baby with her. Then arrived Lleyton Heweiit and Alicia Molik! wow. So this is where the rich hang out. hehe. I wasn't gain enough to get an autograph though.

In the morning, Crystal Club room customers get a free breakfast also there. It was no where near as nice as Sofitel Melbourne's buffet breakfast and so it really didn't feel like the "exclusive" Crystal Club. There were steamed mushrooms, scrambled eggs, bacon and the usual ereal, toast etc. I don't thing there was any custom egg chef either. What you see is what you get and there wasn't that many to choose from. For real nice buffet breakfast, go and stay at Sofitel Melbourne. You'll thank me for it.

Overall, a really nice "rich" feeling hotel with an Awesome entertainment centre below including the amazing Casino. (We ended up winning enough money on the pokies to pay for the entire 1 week holiday down at Melbourne...!!)

Great hotel, Great Casino. I highly recommend it.

Always the best

Stayed for a romantic weekend without the kids. Have stayed at many 5 star hotels in Melbourne but Crown Towers is by far my favourite.
We got a good deal on the room as my husband is a Crown Club member so if anyone out there likes to play in the casino it is a good idea to join the club as it is free and gives some good perks like free parking and food and beverage discounts etc.
Rooms are always nice, even the lowest priced ones I find are far better than those at the Lindrum (formerly Sheraton Towers)There are walk-in robes big enough to change in, the bathrooms all have marble benchtops, rimless shower screens, separate toilets and soaking tubs with tv sets. The exective suites are beautiful with floor to ceiling windows, huge lounge area and THREE tv sets!
My favourite part of the hotel is definitely the indoor pool which is open until 10pm and is one of the best I have ever seen, and each time I visit without the kids I wish I had taken them just for that, as they would love it.
The convenience of walking out of the hotel straight into the Crown entertainment complex is great. There are cinemas, restaurants, bars, bowling alleys and arcades for the kids, and of course Crown Casino.
Breakfast in Breezes restaurant is always good but a little pricey, so if you want to save on extras take a 5 minute walk down to Southgate and grab something there.

excellent hotel

We stayed in the executive suite in the Crown towers and it was absolutely fabulous from check in to check out!!!

The room was HUGE, TV in the bathroom was a nice touch - double spa bath!!!

The views were thee best there is, stretching from the bay - to the east of Melbourne, over the city.

We would definately recommend the crown and the executive suite for a special occasion!!

Great Hotel

We stayed at the Crown Towers Hotel, part of the Crown Casino complex overlooking the Yarra River in Melbourne for 1 night in February.

We were lucky enough to have a room on the 28th Floor, in one of the Club Rooms. The room itself was fantastic, and the views over Melbourne were amazing. Included in the price was drinks and breakfast in the Club Lounge on the 29th floor. The breakfast was great, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel is perfect, close to everything, with many great bars and restaurants all along the river.

I would really recommend this hotel for a stay in Melbourne.

Amazing luxury!

from suitdude30
Just returned from a 4-night visit to Melbourne, my 1st time ever to Australia. Living in Kuala Lumpur and travelling frequently around Asia on business, I am accustomed to the high standard of 5-star Asian hotels. However, the Crown Towers exceeded my expectations. I decided to treat my wife to a break during Chinese New Year, and booked a "Deluxe Villa package" through the Crown Towers website. Although the $990 seemed kinda steep at 1st (esp when converted to malaysian ringgit!), it was well worth it. The Villa is basically a super-large suite on the 30th floor, with modern but comfy furniture. There's even free high-spd wireless internet access and parking thrown in! In Asia, all hotel suites charge a lot for internet access. We checked in at Crystal Club, wow the views! Great intro to melborne. This lounge serves brkfast and if u wait long enough, u can have an early lunch, and wake up late!), plus free drinks 'happy hour' in the evening.

When we checked in, we were escorted to our villa by a butler, who told us to press a butler button on our villa telephone 24/7 if we wanted butler service! We felt so pampered. Champagne was sitting in a bucket when we entered the villa, and again, amazing views. Loved the spacious lounge and bedroom. My wife immediately packed away the Molton Brown (??correct spelling??) soaps, shamppoos, etc.!

Anyway, we enjoyed our stay so much. The villa was so luxurious and spacious, we didn't go out much, except down to the pool and restaurants. Crown is so convenient, cos everything is in 1 complex - cinemas, restaurants, etc. Again, the price $990 was steep, but you have to experience it. That price applies only to 1st night, then $770 further nights. Might go to Melbourne just to enjoy a villa again!

Perfect getaway

from Tui65
We booked an executive suite at the Crown Towers in Melbourne for a four day getaway, and we weren't disappointed.
The room had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Yarra River and the layout of the lounge and bedroom made great use of the views. Everything was clean, extremely comfortable and well maintained.
The room service breakfast we had was delicious. It didn't take very long to arrive and was nice and hot. However the coffee shop on Level 1 was a little disappointing for breakfast especially if having a la carte. We didn't try the buffet but from what I saw looked like a standard hotel one - nothing special.
It was great that if you wanted you could stay in the complex without having to go outside as there was a large number of restaurants and entertainment.
One thing I did find a bit odd was that there was no porter, or really anybody in the lobby except for the check in people when we arrived.
Since it had been years since my last trip to Melbourne, this place was definitely the place to stay.

Enjoyable stay

Room was clean and comfortable, 4.5 to 5 star.

The Casino itself is excellent too. Best Casino I have visited (I havent been to vegas though!)
