Great Hotel, Friendly Staff
from possum75The hotel is immaculately clean and well presented. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the food in the restaurants was delightful.
I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone and we will stay hee next time we are on the gold coast.
Showing its Age
from Australians_AbroadThe staff from the outset were very nice - thoroughly professional and polite. However, the room we had on the 15th floor was not up to previous standards.
The curtains were full of small holes, the bath had cracks in the bottom, and all the furniture was worn/marked.
The shower sprayed everywhere except downwards.
Buffet dinner was good - though not as many alternatives to seafood as had been in past..
Generally a good stay - though not the great weekend away we had expected.
Well adequate with kitchen area
from PlopperTubbyour room has a well adequate kitchen area, unlike normal hotels. And we r able to make some quick snacks to munch on. location is gd too, in the midst of surfers.service is no doubt great!
Loved the Legends!

from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat Location
from issymiyakeThe staff were frendly enough and assisted with all activity bookings. I had made some enquiries before getting there by email and they were quick to reply.
The rooms are quite small, especially the bathrooms. The rooms are kept very clean. The view from the balcony was amazing.
Restaurant is great. They serve the standard American breakfast. The seafood buffet is a must. Really fresh seafood. Huge prawns, fresh oysters etc. I don't think I've eaten so much seafood and I've been to plenty seafood buffets. Dessert bar was superb.
The hotel is so close to the main area of Surfers Paradise (Cavil Avenue), about a 2 minute walk. Great location.
There are so many great places to stay in Gold Coast. The Legends Hotel is definitely up there near the top, specially for that price. Would stay here again unless I wanted to try someplace else.
Average
from RMJKHowever, the downside is that the hotel is not properly managed. On the last night, we found broken beer bottles in the lift. On check-in we had to spend the first night in a smaller room as our room was not ready. The pool was too noisy for our liking.
This hotel could have been lot better if properly maintained.
Good but not great!
from montgodMy wife and I stayed at Legends for six days in early January. We had the ocean view apartment on the 20th floor and the view was spectacular! Rooms were always cleaned everyday and they did a good job. The cleaning staff (Elma especially) and the concierge guys were always helpful and informative! The hotel is in a great location to walk to the shops, resturaunts, and beach.
On the negative side, our hotel room bathroom was setup terribly. When you opened the door, it almost touched the commode and I stubbed my toe countless times on the door stop beside the commode. Just a terrible setup! The room was average. As someone else stated, it looks and feels like the top blanket is never changed. Hard as a rock and is uncomfortable to touch. Room did not include toothpaste, shampoos, shaving cream, or anything that a cheap hotel would give you. The cleaning personnel informed us that if we wanted that, it would be an additional $2.50 or more for each item and that they were in very small sizes. We took the advice of others and bought that stuff at a convenience store nearby.
The breakfast brunch/buffet was terrible. Don't waste your money. It included some sunnyside up eggs that looked like they had been sitting there for a while (the chef was nice enough to make me a plain omelette even though he left out the seasoning, veggies, and anything else that might have made the eggs taste good), fruit that was disgusting except for the watermelon, muffins that were hard as a rock, etc....I am sure you get the point. There are MANY excellent places to eat then to go there. Shoot...you could go to a convenience store nearby and get better food.
The internet costs were ridiculous! $24 a night or $19 a night if you had a wireless. Or $9.95 for an hour! No need to charge that much.
The gym is minimally equipped and very limited so don't expect to get a good workout. Not only that, but it's so minimal, you may not be able to use the gym if someone else is working out in there with you. Not only that, but the hours of operation are ridiculous also. 6am to 9pm. Why isn't it 24hrs? I am an adult w/my own card key. I don't need supervision and since I am on vacation, I would mainly workout in the evening. Same for the pool times as well.
I agree w/another person on here that there is a line at the front desk all the time. This makes booking in and out very tedious. If it weren't for the concierge guys, I would have never gotten assistance in a timely manner.
Overall, the hotel was decent, but not great. The location makes it attractive as well as the helpful staff, but that's about it.
Hotel in Decline
from A TripAdvisor MemberDespite this the hotel does have some good points: good location, nice pool, quality concierges, pleasant lobby and bar area. But the bottom line is the hotel needs a refurbishment and the managers educated on how to treat each guest as a valued customer. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel as a quality 4*.
Beware in November
from alittleharshI have stayed twice at Legends, and think it is a great business hotel. Just your basic room, but done in modern comfortable decor, and with good service throughout the hotel facilities.
However...in November, the whole of Surfers Paradise and surrounds should be avoided by anyone planning a nice quiet relax or family holiday. The annual schoolies week (which goes for three weeks) is the biggest party on the coast, and no-one will get any sleep at night, wherever you stay. Sleep during the day when the school-leavers are recovering.
Top Local Tips for Surfers Paradise
Good italian restaurant Across the road is Nicolinis. A really yummy italian restaurant, good staff, good food and quick service.
Don't fly into Brisbane Probably best to fly into Coolangatta than Brisbane. Had to get up at 4.30 am to catch a shuttle bus (20 minutes late) to get to Brisbane International at 6am for a 8 am flight. What a nightmare!
theme park transfers Pay only $6 for the public bus EXPRESS transfer to any of the theme parks. Very good way to get to the theme parks. Its express! (Or you can pay $18 for a coach transfer that will stop at a million other hotels before you reach your destination, or, even come to your hotel but leave without you - this happened to us!)
