Renting a car in Brisbane Renting a car in Brisbane is really easy. We rented ours at the airport. It's a little weird getting used to driving on the left side of the road at first, but you get used to it fairly quickly. If you are heading into the city of Brisbane from the airport, you have to just follow signs that simply say "city" and have an arrow.

Fortitude Valley Fortitude Valley, also known simply as The Valley is a suburb of central Brisbane, Australia immediately north-east of the CBD. It is one of the hubs of Brisbane's nightlife, renowned for its trendy bars and cafes, nightclubs and adult entertainment. Together with the neighbouring suburb of New Farm, the Valley has the highest number of gay residents in the state and boasts the largest number of gay businesses and venues in Brisbane.The Valley used to have a (deserved) bad reputation at night many years ago but that is no longer the case. There is a police station in the mall, very active backpacker accomodations and as the Valley has become more popular there are more people on the street at night which means less lonely alleys. The Valley is more relaxed in clothing and attitudes which is why it is the "alternative" capital of Brisbane. Don't miss the GPO disco pub.
