Another Great Location

from Taisho
I agree with everyone else. Great Location but we only stayed one night on our way to NZ. Staff was nice, helpful and professional. I was upgraded to an Executive Suite on top floor (i know, the Gym/Laundry is on the top floor.) Great view, and close to Queens street and Casino. The Casin is worth a visit even if you don't play.

I also liked the gym. Good workout equipment. Treadmills, Weights and Jacuzzi. There is also a balcony on this floor so you can get a good view of the city.

Liked hotel and staff, but a few small problems

from Roolover
I liked this hotel. It was very centrally located for our purposes. Could walk to just about everything. The only real problem was the light in the bathroom decided not to work about half the time and the lighting in the bathroom was already pretty poor. I could fix it by pushing on it (must have been a loose connection), so I never bothered the staff about it . I did love the clothesline over the tub - very handy! The view from the room was fantastic (overlooking the river and the city). Being American, I thought the food in the restaurant was a little strange. At the morning buffet they had a sign that said "American bacon" in front of one chafing dish and let me tell you it was not like anything I have ever eaten in the States. It was definitely NOT American bacon. The other thing I missed was real coffee. Couldn't seem to get anything but espresso or a latte with breakfast, which didn't really work for me. But I recognized that I was in a country of tea drinkers. Staff was friendly (as are all Australians we met), so none of the things that were odd to me were a big deal. Just a little inconvenient.

Fantastic food in the resturant

from jane3333
Me and my boyfriend arrived in Brisbane late at night and managed to book into this hotel having drove around Brisbane for some time. The room was huge and clean and the food in the resturant excellent would recommend this hotel!

Great for the price - location good.

from LizzieR007
We arrived early in the morning following a flight from Singapore and our room was ready and waiting. As members of the priority club we got a free room upgrade that included free drinks from the mini bar. The room was huge, and the bathroom lovely. It was a short stroll into the centre of town. The restaurant was uninspirational and as we were tired we made use of the takeaway menus that were provided in the room.

Altogether a good hotel in a good location - although internet was pricing in reception.

A Good Place to Stay

from TimmyB1957
My wife and I just returned from a three-week vacation down under and this is where we stayed for three nights in Brisbane. I will try to be brief, but it is difficult sometimes.

Location is good. There are hotels closer to the Queen Street Mall, where most of the tourist stuff is, but it is a very quick walk to Queen Street, the Casino, the CityCat pickup on the river, etc. If you are a business traveller, the CBD is a bit further away and you probably would want to stay a little closer to that.

Staff was very young, very competent, very friendly, and very helpful. Despite the fact that we arrived at 8:00 on a Sunday morning, they cheerfully found us a room immediately.

Room was good, although a bit dated. It was almost a retro-cool look to it, but the main thing was it was clean and comfy. Bathroom was good-sized. Overall, the room was just a bit sterile, but again, it served it's purpose.

This hotel wastes an amazing opportunity. When we went up to the top floor to check out the workout room and the laundry room, we discovered it was located in a room that takes up the entire top floor, with a wrap-around outdoor balcony that offers you a panoramic view of the city! If I owned this hotel, I would move the facilities down a floor or two, gut this room, and market this as a great place to view the city from, have a glass of wine, whatever. You can do this on your own, but we would have completely overlooked it if we hadn't stumbled upon it.

Overall, value was good. We paid A$171 per night for three nights. I would stay in this hotel again if the price was right, but I would continue to check other highly-rated hotels for good deals. Feel free to write me if you have any questions at all. TripAdvisor was very helpful for me in selecting hotels for this trip and I would like to help others with their decision making.

Wicked hotel, a must stay!

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is great, are room was huge and clean. The service was good and on our first evening we had 2 of the staff visit our room to check we were alright and give us some choclates and a card for free drinks at the bar. The hotel has a good gym and laundry, which we loved cos we were away for 2 months. The hotel is also onto of the roma street station and transit centre. This doesnt mean its noisy, we heard no noise at night. If you want to do trips, most of the coaches go from the transit centre so you just have to walk next door.

The day tours i would reccomment are Steve Urwins Australia zoo. Its a really great zoo with some great shows, like the tiger show. O'reillys which is in Laminton park which is the largest nature reserve in Australia. Tangalooma bay, this is the 3rd largest sand island and is so breath taking. Try and go to fraser island aswell but it was so expensive to get there.

Brisbane is a lovely place but there is not a great deal to see in the city so def make sure you do some day trips cos there is so much to see around Brisbane.

Brillinant Brisbane stay

from veevey
My partner and I stayed at the Holiday inn for 4 nights, and we had a ball.

The hotel is only a short walk from the main city centre, and heaps of restaurants around. Its located above the Roma street station, so its easy to get around, and mcdonalds, ATMS, newsagent etc are also in the same complex.

The staff were friendly, helping us to find good places to dine out. Our room was large, and overlooked Roma street on the 10th floor.

I highly recommend this hotel. In fact it was miles better than some of the so-called 5 star hotels I have previously stayed at.

I would advise against eating in the hotel restaurant though, as the staff at the hotel restaurant were pretty unfriendly, and there are many places close by that are nicer anyway.

Reasonable for the price I paid

from Joe_Fong
We checked in on a Sunday for two nights stay having arrived from Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise. Perhaps it was a Sunday and the hotel seems rather short-handed. It took a while for them to open the doors for our inter-connecting rooms, and also to deliver pairs of slippers upon our request. Despite that, the staff were rather polite and friendly. In fact, they have been quite efficient in amending my booking from a King room to a twin-sharing room, just a day before we arrived. Btw, you could get good rates from the hotel's corporate web-site.

As Roma Street station is just a short walk away, rail transport to elsewhere of Brisbane and the suburbs is really convenient. However, this means that you could hear the train rolling noise early in the morning if your rooms are facing the platforms, which ours are. So if you are a light sleeper, you may consider requesting rooms on the other side facing Roma Street. Also, the windows seemed to give cracking sounds in the morning. Perhaps it was due to thermal expansion, but I personally found it rather uncomfortable.

Compared to other locations nearer to Queen Street's vicinity, F&B options are rather limited, but there are several fast food joints within the building.

Apart from those mentioned, we were in fact quite pleased with the hotel for the price we paid.

Disappointed

from John_Drummond
We were unlucky to arrive when the hotel was changing the computer system, but who needs excuses after a long flight from Dubai? We booked and paid for a room from Sunday night but when we arrived on Monday morning firstly the elctronic key didn't work and when we did get in the room had already been used. They did move us to a better room but this was a time when we needed the hotel to do what "it says on the tin". We did get one night refunded but had to follow up by post on return as the room had been charged when booked. That computer system again. The staff seemed very amateur.

Right next to Station

from mr_mojo_risin
Hotel is right by Roma St station. The train from the Airport (both domestic and international terminals) stop here. Save yourself on taxi fares and use this. Tickets for the train can be bought at reception and times of next train are also displayed at reception. Room was nice and quite big. Price is very reasonable (i paid approx 60GBP per night) which included buffet breakfasts for the two of us which was very nice. Also tried the hotel restaurant and the food was very good. Nice to have some free drinks in the minibar as well.
