(note I have since been told that it has been upgraded.....) A few minor points.... if you have any disability this is not the place for you, the lift door timing is terrible and you can be standing waiting for people to exit and it will close and go.... staf was found to be unhelpful and one of my pet hates is use meal trays left outside of doors for hours, obviously massive house keeping problems here....

Historical Traveller Reviews of Hilton Brisbane Hotel
Short but very sweet
from aussiefemale23The hotel backs onto Queen Street mall which makes it so convenient for shopping and dinning. It is also within a short walking distance of the train station for the air train and also a short walk to the river. It is a perfect location for what we wanted which was shopping, eating and the train.
We stayed in a King Hilton Deluxe room on the 14th floor with views (between buildings) of the river. It was spacious with a good sized bathroom. I had expected a larger tv though.
The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in and the pillow menu was much appreciated as I find it hard to get a good nights sleep without my 'U' pillow.
The staff were always friendly and courteous, even at 5am when we had to check out.
We secured a good last minute deal through the hotel's website and wish that we could have stayed longer.
Excellent service
from skiathiteThe bed was wide and very comfortable and so were the pillows, and the rooms appear to have had a face lift. But the bathrooms are old. The toilet bowl had a crack and the fittings appeared to be falling out of the wall in places. The lighting in the bathroom is dim so not that great for applying makeup and shaving.
I can't comment on the restaurant food other than the breakfasts which I can highly recommend but make sure they are included in the room rate as they are pretty pricey. Also ensure that you get a room as high up as possible from the ground floor as the hotel has an atrium that rises up through the middle and noise carries, although in the 18th floor room we couldn't hear anything.
All in all, we found our stay at the Hilton very enjoyable and would stay again.
Brisvegas
from Halle8The ONLY place to stay in Brisbane
from tarteArrived at the stunning Hilton after staying at The Sofitel for two nights. Hilton was clearly the winner! We got there at 9 am and was told our room wasn't ready (understandably), and to leave our luggage with the concierge and they will give us a call as soon as it is ready. This was no problem, seen as though it is right on the Queen St mall strip! We took out private elevator down to the mall and shopped for a few hours.
About 2-3 hours later we got a call saying our room was ready. Back we trot to the hotel where we were told we had been upgraded to the executive floor! My daughter disagreed though, saying she wanted the deluxe plus room we had booked after checking out the executive room. To be honest, I agreed! The deluxe rooms are alot more modern, however maybe the executive are being done up?
Another suprise awaited us! We had access to the Executive Lounge which is open all day till 9pm, serving free breakfast in the morning, snacks and drinks all during the day, and canapes and other appertizers and alcohol at night! I def reccomend booking a deluxe room, it really is not that much more. We however, did not eat breakfast there as it was included in our booked package. The buffet breakfast downstairs is superb!
The room was beautiful. The hotel stunning. The staff always joyful and ready to help!
The sofitel was ok too, but paying the same price for both, the Hilton is in a much better location. The rooms at the Sofitel were also quite dated, and the location, less than good.
It is even conected to a shopping centre, which was great!
The only place we would ever stay in Brisbane. Book it!
Loved the Hilton
from philthy_jadaHighly recommended for a relaxing stay.
Excellent..all around..
from alamandThis hotel is amazing, the outsite is dated but the inside is absolutly lovely now.
The lobby is massive, it has an open 25 storey lobby, you can see right up to the roof where a massive pane of glass lets in only natural light. I don't know why some people say its dark...take your sunglasses off perhaps?
Below 7, the new bar is amazing, the cocktails are delish the staff are efficient and polite. Check in was great and since i am a Hilton Honors it was even quicker.
I've always loved the glass elevators, they took me up to my King Executive room on the 23rd floor and my room which is newly refurbished was clean, chic and a nice breath of fresh air. I hear tales on the grape vine that ALL hotel rooms are soon to be finished, only the standard guest rooms are not...if you're only wanting to pay $160 for a hotel room then you shouldn't really expect more than what you're getting, which is still more than sufficient.
All deluxe and executive rooms are newly done and are a pleasure to stay in. The pool is lovely and cool and a nice touch with the faint sound of the hustling and bustling city in the background.
The atrium is amazzzzzzing! They no longer serve buffet at dinner, its all a la carte, i was upset however the menu is incredible.
I love this hotel....the refurb has done wonders and i'll def be back!
Great Hotel in a good location
from BillFGreat Function Room
from australian73The accommodation is average and probably 4 star. Food very expensive and best to eat out of the hotel. However, the executive lounge is quite good.
Great location in the city. All in all good value if you're looking to run a conference or small training event.
Cheap makeover does not a 5 star make!
from HotelGuru007A cheap and tacky rennovation of the main bedrooms could not conceal the old and saggy mattress, the old fashioned bathroom (which is ill equipped to deal with steam even from a hot water tap) and noisy air-conditioning.
Food is terrible. We ordered a club sandwhich with fries. You could not see the sandwhich for the millions of greasy "chips" that covered the plate. On another occasion after ordering an emental cheese sandwhich the kitchen called me back to say they did not know what that was and would 'normal cheese' be ok.
The gym is pitiful. 2 very old running machines, no free weights (despite their being a photograph of free weights in their marketing materials) and a dark room. The swimming pool was large, but the pool area looks tired and a bit depressing.
The staff are, like most in Australia, friendly and efficient. But the fact remains that this hotel is not of 'Hilton' standards.
Great location, average hotel
from JD_Business_TravelLocation is great, near the business district, river, botanical gardens, and Queen St.
The hotel reception and lobby are on level 6. After two weeks I was pretty sick of the two sets of elevators to get to my room.
I liked the Executive floor lounge for breakfast.
Staff: Housekeeping staff are friendly and do a good job. Front desk staff seem challenged to check you in and out and are otherwise useless. Executive floor lounge staff are really great.
Business centre is weak.
Top Local Tips for Brisbane
Health Spa I would recommend the Brisbane Holistic Health Centre for a great massage. They do a wide variety of massages, from deep tissue to relaxation.
Genuine Thai food It's not flash, it's not romantic, it's very cheap but if you are not trying to show off and you love Thai food (i.e. you have been to Thailand and eaten outside the hotel) then Thai-wi-rat is the real deal. Absolutely magnificent genuine thai food, right down to the box of condiments. It's in Fortitude valley a short cab ride from the city (I walk there) I can't visit Brisbane without making a pilgramage. Aloi maa!
Airport Take the train to the airport from either Roma St or Central statiuon it is so easy and much better value than a taxi

Anyway, when I first checked in, the receptionist was both unpleasant and very unhelpful. I had to ask the same question 3 times, before I got a reluctant response which did not answer my question anyway.
As the night progressed, we received terrible service from the waitresses. The local pub has a higher standard of service. I was attending a function, and I was starting to think that perhaps our entire side of the table was invisible, since the waitress only came to our side of the table once in 5 hours, but every 10 or 15 minutes to the other side. In the end we just got the other side of the table to order our drinks.
Anyway, here is the kicker. We get back to the room at 2AM, ready to go to bed, and there is no sheet on the bed - just a blanket. I have spent a lot of time in 5 star hotels over the years (thanks to my work), and the Brisbane Hilton, is not even close to being up to the standard that is expected. I would highly recommend that if you come to Brisbane you choose a different hotel.
