On Saturday evening the 12th November, 2005 my daughter, grand daughter and her partner along with her father, stepmother and a 60 year old friend of the family arrived at the Leisure Coast Park Inn at 21 Carters Lane, Towradgi located in Wollongong. They were booked into stay two nights and I was to arrive with my partner in one room and my mother niece and nephew in another room and also my son's godparents in another room we were all in Wollongong to attend my son's wedding.

The events unfolded as what could be deemed as our worst nightmare:

1. On Saturday evening my 60-year-old friend went to turn on the air conditioning unit in his room and it fell out of the wall on to the ground, which left a big hole in the wall.
2. Also on the Saturday evening my daughter's room was infested with cockroaches, they were found in her bed and all over everything. I might add that a faeces was found floating in the toilet upon arrival. Consequently they vacated the hotel at 2am on the Sunday morning and relocated to the Novotel located also in Wollongong.
3. They arrived back to the Leisure Coast Park in later in the morning to see the manager Andrew Capetta to complain and were reimbursed their accommodation less $50.00.
4. Natalie's father and party booked out the next morning as a bed broke during the night that a 7 year old was sleeping on and the manager she must have been jumping on the bed and she definitely wasn't as she was asleep they relocated to the Novotel also.
5. My mother, niece and nephew arrived along with my son's godparents and myself and partner only to find that the accommodation was not a triple “A” rating 3.5 as advertised in the Tourism Wollongong Brochure. As I live in Queensland three rooms were booked and fully paid for prior to arrival.
6. My mother niece and nephew looked at their room and found it to be very dirty and left and relocated to the Novotel at Wollongong their accommodation was refunded to my credit card as I demanded this.
7. Due to mine and son's godparent's social economic situation and tired from travel we had no choice but to stay at this accommodation.
8. I was located in room 20 the air-conditioning rumbled all night, the refrigerator did not work, there was no access to a phone for emergency reasons and during the night my car was broken into and passenger front side window smashed I had present's stolen from the car and there had been no warning signs to say that break-ins frequently occur and secure your belongings. I had to wait until 9am before the manager arrived on the premises to notify him of the events of what happened. When I complained his statement was well you get what you paid for the cost was $109.00 for a double for the night and no breakfast included.
9. The godparents stayed in room 22 and during the night the godmother went to the bathroom and closed the door and the door knob fell off and she could not get out, she had to call out to her husband to wake up and it took him over an hour to get her released.
