To the motel itself - my room has its problems. There was no drain hole in the bathroom, so any water overflow from the shower can come straight out onto the linoleum in the main passageway. The air conditioner was awkwardly placed and means that it cannot operate without having a pulldown curtain partially raised. Noise comes in very easily from neighboring rooms. You can also expect to be regaled by the sounds of dogs barking or howling from a neighboring property.
If it wasn't for the presence of the trees in the main car park , I would say that it resembles a lunar landscape - its so pockmarked with craters.
Unfortunately, this list of minuses makes the motel sound a lot worse than it really is. The dogs aren't that loud, and stay quiet during the night, and sound off relatively briefly in the morning. The air conditioner is a nuisance , but the window overlooks a general grassy area not accessible to the public. So your privacy is not all that badly compromised. Also, you can sort of position the curtain over the conditioner (which also doubles as a heater). The lack of a drain hole can be handled by making sure your shower curtain is fully drawn when having a shower. The guest's car park is in better shape (covered with loose blue matal) than the main car park, and there are no craters there.
Onto the pluses - the staff were all quite nice. The motel has a bistro and a series of bars and a lounge, plus a gaming area. I liked them all. The $30 that I lost at the pokies there on night serves as a reminder that they can be an expensive pleasure. The housekeeping was also satisfactory.
Breakfasts are included with the tariff and consist of toast, fruit juice drinks and cereal, plus tea and coffee made available in your room. Lunches are as little as $10 at the bistro and dinners more expensive (they have included lobster dinners at $30 or so a plate). See the bistro menu on the Tahmoor Inn website to see the price and meal range. If still too expensive , or if you prefer to have dinner in your room, there is always places such as the nearby Tahmoor KFC, pizza shop and Subway store.
All in all, a stay there remains pretty good value for money at $55 a night. I did not mind my stay there at all.
