Watson's Bay For tourists it would be hard to go past a trip to Watson's Bay by ferry - great trip the full length of the Harbour. Once there you have views the whole way down the Harbour - the city, opera house, harbour bridge, etc.As for dining, Doyles have the scene sewn up - and they make great fish meals. You can either have a take-away and eat on the foreshore or park, eat at the Hotel for a little bit more and also enjoy a beer there (the beer garden, especially the front tables, have Harbour views to die for), or you can go more upmarket and eat at one of Doyles' two restaurants - one on the pier as you arrive, and the other right on the beach with outside tables. Each venue has the great view.
manly is great doyle's at watson's bay is a must do...

This hotel proved to me to be a most pleasant place to stay in. The reception service was very good and able to handle a situation where I arrived earlier than expected and it can take in travellers with no credit card or mobile phoneat short notice (I may have been plain lucky but I'll mention this anyway). The concierge was very good and was willing and able to assist with a situation where I needed to know where a Surrey Hills street was located for a sunday morning meeting. A street map was even provided. When I arrived back from that Surrey Hills meeting a little late that morning , ie just past checkin time, I was not charged an extra day or hour but alowed back in to quickly pack. Much appreciated, fellows.
The room was very nice. Despite the fact that it overlooked Broadway, a very busy street in the Ultimo/Haymarket areas of Sydney, there was no street noise. There were lots of welcome facilities , including shampoo that came with the shower and an ironing board. The bed , I had a choice of three as I was not booked into a single room, was very nice and soft.
The guest laundry , located next to one of the car parks , was quite satisfactory. The breakfast room service I ordered (steak and eggs) was also very satisfactory.
All in all, I'm not sure why I am not giving this place a 10 but I guess it may be a reflection of the fact that one of the hotels two elevators was kaputt during my stay there, causing problems for the staff and guests alike.
Still, if you don't mind paying a little extra money ($155 a night in my case), it is very well worth a vist.
