Excellent value and hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Courteous and prompt staff. No problems. For longer stays the rooms are the best i've stayed in (and I travel 75%). Fully contained and full service units (1 bedroom unit with full kitchen, living room, bath room). Worth not collecting points from Marriott or Hilton just for the better room and central location - right beside Wynard station and in an area of town that is open late (not like most city fin districts).

Noise, Noise, Noise

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just thinking about my stay at this hotel still makes me feel tierd! This was our first hotel on a six week trip to OZ, and was by far the worst. The noise over a weekend is unbearable, the windows are not double glazed and it feels as if you are sleeping on the curbside. It was impossible to sleep, what with the cars tooting their horns all night, the bar/night club next to the hotel playing load music, the numerous load mouthed drunks on the street and continuous police sirens this was not a pleasant stay.

We did complain to the manager, who initially asked us what we expected if we chose to stay in the City Centre? I am a business traveller and I have stayed in numerous City Centre Hotels around the world. I have yet to come across one so badly sound proofed. Eventually we changed rooms, and although our new room was only 10" away from the brick wall of the neighbouring building, it was quieter. The curtains in the room did not block out light from the street or the cars.

On a positive note, the room was well equiped, clean and everthing worked. My only complaint was that the air conditioning was NOT lound enough to block out the noise!!

Be warned - do not stay here if you want to sleep. But if you want to party all night, shout, get drunk or cruise Bond Street tooting your car horn then this is the hotel for you.

Service severely lacking

from Boardrider
We stayed here with our 2 year old last year. The apartment was booked for a month as it was a company relocation from overseas. The two bedroom apartment was not very big. The washing machine broke a couple of times. The dishwasher broke down constantly - the maintenance guys would say it was fixed when it wasn't. Management told us to leave the dirty dishes out and the housekeeping staff would wash up. However, they simply piled it all back into the dishwasher and left it dirty (this happened at least 3 times). Various complaints to the management over a number of days produced a bottle of wine as an apology. Housekeeping generally was slack and the room was apparently vacuumed only once in two weeks. Not the four and a half star hotel it claims to be. Beware - on weekends a lot of the rooms are booked out to groups of young people who are out drinking in the city. It is SOOOO noisy. There were parties in our corridor and people banging on the door in the middle of the night because they were too drunk to remember which room they were staying in. We lasted two weeks before moving out. The management refused to give the company a discount on the rates paid, despite our complaints. Definitely not recommended, particularly if you have kids and actually plan to use the kitchen/washing facilities.

Very disappointing

from A TripAdvisor Member
Really wanted to like this hotel because of its (mostly) gracious and eager-to-please staff, but stay was marred by several things including a washer that didn't work and a bathroom that came with a stench (even when newly cleaned) and none of the usual amenities like soap and shampoo. On the whole, stay was stressful, unrelaxing, and incredibly disappointing. The only positives were the cheerfulness, efficiency, and desire to help displayed by managers Margaret and Amy, and staff members Michael (of Fairfield, Australia) and David.

I have just returned from a 5 day stay in Sydney at the Saville.
It was simply outstanding in all the important areas. Great kitchen with all the appliances, bathroom with strong shower - (no bath in our room). The bed was large and comfy. The rooftop pool and spa were wonderful at night as no one but us used it and you get great city views from up there.
The staff were all fantastic. We dealt with about 10 different staff during our stay and all were great. The had the quickest room service and housekeeping responses of any hotel I have stayed at.
The concierge gave great advise and in the end he was planning all our meals and activities.

I highly recommend the Saville to couples or families. You will not be disappointed.

Perfect hotel!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Fabulous hotel! Rooms are wonderful, especially for a long stay since they have a washer/dryer in the bathroom, and a full, but small kitchen. Even a balcony. The layout of the room is very imaginative. The head concierge, Nathan is wonderful ~ very helpful and friendly. He was able to get us sold out tickets to Olivia Newton John singing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Opera house. The location is perfect!!! I would highly recommend it, we just returned from a wonderful 10 days with them.

Concierge was fantastic

from Poppageorgio
The Saville 2 Bond street Hotel, is perfectly located in the best part of town. Apon arrival to Sydney for our first time in Australia we went straight up and asked the concierge what we should see, There Head Concierge straight away pulled out a map and started showing us the must see attractions and land marks, He went out of his way to help us book Sydney Tours, Blue Mountain Tours, Opera House Tickets and even got us a rental car to use. I've never packed so much into one holiday before and i truelly would say it was well worth it. Great Hotel with great staff.

Spend your money elsewhere.

There is little reason to select the Saville 2 Bond for your hotel. If you are a business traveler, you'll find the facilities lacking (exorbitantly priced broadband access at "dialup" speeds, etc.). For someone on holiday,
you'll be left in an empty business district after 6pm and on weekends. The rooms are smallish and overpriced. Most frustrating of all is the scant attention given to customer service. While a couple of employees were
friendly, there are a few that were unpleasant and even rude. I generally found that my requests and complaints were either ignored, or simply forgotten. In one frustrating incident, staff and management denied a problem existed even after I offered to demonstrate it. "Blame the customer" is the preferred service technique. I discovered that I was not alone, as I'd observed several guests arguing with the front desk employees over various issues. There are far better choices available for your hotel needs. Recommendation: AVOID.

Great hotel

from Holidaymad
I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. The location is great - it is within easy walking distance of Circular Quay, The Rocks, Darling Harbour and the shops! We had a studio apartment (which is ideal for a couple) which was of a very high standard and had all the amenities you need (kitchen, washer/dryer etc). The only downside to the apartment was that there was no bath (only a walk-in shower).

When we arrived at the hotel our booking wasn't on theirsystem and although we weren't given any explanation they did sort it out very quickly.

Loved Saville 2 Bond St, Sydney _ Great Boutique Hotel

from SallyNSW
We recently stayed at Saville 2 Bond Street and were impressed by the quality of the apartments. Ours was a studio apartment with separate lounge area and a really smart kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Lots of space and very comfortable. There is a cafe bar in the hotel lobby where we had breakfast - great coffee. The hotel has a central location and the concierge staff were very helpful with directions to the Rocks markets and the MCA, which were a 10 minute walk away. All staff we encountered were very friendly. We would recommend for couples looking for a boutique hotel weekend escape.

Top Local Tips for Sydney

Wonderful Sydney We absolutely love the Opera Bar in Sydney - it gets very crowded, particularly on Friday evenings but the experience of enjoying a drink in the evening sunshine with the Harbour Bridge on one side and the Opera House on another is unbelievable!

musical if you haven't seen it yet go see Billy Elliott the musical. very funny, sad and great dancing. watch out for the strong language

Darling Harbour Stay at the any one of the Darling Harbour hotels. Worth the price.
