Scenic World Unless you like your scenery "packaged" avoid Scenic World which seemed designed to catch tour groups and just take some of the hiking trails around the mountains
Katoomba weather At first we were a little disappointed with the weather at Katoomba as after a first fine day, the clouds came in and we couldn't see a thing. However, we finally discovered that there is so much to do in this area that it didn't really bother us. Of course there are great shops and restaurants to visit but we spent a whole day at the Jenolin Caves. The drive in is quite impressive. Make sure you check out the tour times before you go as most caves are guided and you can waste a lot of time hanging around waiting for a tour. Also on days when the cloud is low, there is a lot to do in the lower parts of the mountains. Go to scenic world and catch the skytrain to the lower valley. There are some beautiful walks down there.
See great views Drive out to Anvil Rock, down the dirt tracks just past Blackheath. Amazing views. Simply breathtaking.
