This hotel , known locally and colloquially as the Hoey Moey, proved a great stay on both occasions.
It's next to one of Coff's Harbour's beaches, so those of you who want to hit the surf there can easily do so.
Facilities available include a laundry (much needed and appreciated on my first visit) and a bar and grill where they do some great veal parmiagina. A free shuttle service is provided by the hotel.
The staff were friendly and were willing and able to shut up soemone there who was making what could be politely described as a noise with a guitar. I would suggest that he was auditioning as an 'unforgettable' in Australian Idol, but in 2001 that show was still a year or so in the future. At any rate, this 'unforgettable' was told to cease and desist by the staff acting on their own initiative (or perhaps on some other guest's complaint). From this, I will assume that 'unforgettables' and other noisy folk will need to go elsewhere - or else watch their noise level when they are there.
Its location is a five to ten minute walk or so from the town's main shopping centre and longer if you want to go to the railway station or the Coff's Harbour yachting harbour (next to Muttonbird Island) . However, staff are willing to drive you there in their shuttle in either instance (at least if you are checking out).
All in all , this place was (and hopefully still is!) good value for money based on my two stays there. The shuttle does it for me.
