Top Local Tips for Alice Springs
Hot Air ballooning The hot air balloon trip is amazing, well worth the cost and early start. We went with outback ballooning. great safe trip and nice outback breatfast with more sparking wine than we could drink.
Dry Don't forget for lip balm (very dry)
things to do We bought a reasonably-priced aboriginal painting here. There is a great range at a few galleries. Papunya Tula is aboriginal owned and has a huge. light-filled space with a LOT of paintings from $500 up to more that $10,000. No pressure, nice, knowledgable staff. The Alice Springs Desert Park was a haven for birds - we saw SO many! The nocturnal house was a real highlight - beautiful little mammals. Also a great reptile display. We missed the birds of prey show - we had been told it was a must - see. A sunset camel ride was lovely for all ages. The kids got to help feed them after. Family owned and run enterprise.
