We stayed in one of the Spa Suites, which turned out to be bigger than expected, and the Spa itself was very relaxing. Walking out to the tropical garden atrium in the morning was an added bonus.
We reccommend this hotel to all travellers, and will definitely be back.

First of all the rooms were not sound proof at all and all the noise from the bar could hear like it was happing next door. When I complained to reception I was told that they will close the bar at 11:30pm and that there was nothing else they can do. Mind you the bar or the noise didn't stop until 3am.
The beds were hard as a board, might as well have slept on the floor.
Shower looks to be designed for a person that is 1.5 meters tall, anyone higher than that will have problems having a shower.
Mini bar was there but was not stocked.
No internet in the room (yes in 2007) even though it was advertised with wireless internet.
Air conditioner had a thermostat but it didn't do anything no matter what temperature you set it to. It appeared to be controlled from another location as the temperature flacuated trough the night.
If you want to stay in Canberra pay the extra 30-50 dollars a night and stay somewhere else.

- Air Conditioner did not work. They took 2 days to fix it.
- TV does not pick up many stations.
- Lobby ATM did not work for 2 days.
- Interior looked like they were from the 60's, it's 2005, hell.
- Internet cost freakn' $20 for 24 hours, get with technology...need in room wireless.
- Birds were flying inside the hotel.
- When toilet flushes, the water bunred me in the shower, ouch!
- Elevator was borken one day, the main lobby one.
- People get loud in the lobby, no privacy, who cares about Australian football!
- No shuttle for airport.
- Oh my, no ice machines! It's 2005?
- Only 1 coke mahcine in the whole hotel.
- Beds are so old! If you like springs, come here!
- Linens were old! Am I at my grandmother's house? I'm serious....
- Not enough light in the rooms. Bulbs were out in some lamps.
- Remote control for tv does not work.
- The furniture looks like it was second hand and placed in the rooms.
- Alarm clock does not work that well.
- Is the coffee table a former cutting block? It is so cut up, my goodness!
- The non-smoking room has a draft of smoke coming in. People smoke in the main lobby like crazy.
- In second lobby, bathrooms were locked.
Review:
If you have any standards, do not stay here. The eggs in the cafe were good. That's about the only thing I liked about this dump. The rooms were redone in December of 2004 but it looks like it needs to be done again. I guess they missed some rooms. My advise, get a match and light the whole plance on fire and rebuild totally.
Good luck if you stay here. You are taking your life in your own hands... Unhappy Camper

Top Local Tips for Canberra
Hire a car - you'll be glad you did Canberra isn't exactly renowned for it's public transport - especially on weekends. Hire a car! You will be glad you did - everything is in relatively close distance, but not close enough to walk - so a car is perfect. There is ample parking everywhere, and it sure beats waiting around for a bus (for hours on weekends if you miss the last one). Just beware that Canberra is in circles and squares inside the circles - off-ramps come up quickly and you will most likely do a circle or two you didn't want to. Hiring a car is my one major tip for Canberra.
Australian War Memorial ok if you're interested in Australia's military involvement in world conflicts then this place is for you. And what's more its free admission! You'll easily spend a day here, there's so much to see and do. Definately add this to your must see list while in Canberra (as it was the best place we visited).
The New National Portrait Gallery Well worth a visit.
