Getting around Ho Chi Minh City Public toiliets are no go areas. Most places were dirty and you had to squat. However, most plazas and shopping centres were of decent standard. Parents of young children ,please bring potty and toilet rolls/tissues. Prepared to haggle hard in Ben Thanh market (not 4 the faint hearted). Summer is the rainny season. During our stayed in Vietnam, it rained heavily most afternoon in Ho Chi Minh City and every 3 days towards the Mekong Delta. Somedays the roads were flooded in Ho Chi Minh City due to poor draininage, a little bit better out of town. Walkers, avoid the hours between 8 00.a.m and 3.00 p.m when humidity can become unbearable. Taxis in the city around 12-15K Dong (less than 50 pence for 3km) and buses 3k Dong from age 11+ to attractions in and out of HCM City. Eating out, whatever on the tables do not use or consume (unless you want to) as these will be added. Towells, peanuts, pickles etc. Beach Vung Tau & Nha Trang best, avoid Mui Ne & Can Gio dirty.
