Clean & Freindly
We stayed in the hotel on the 14th & 15th Oct.2007 Mr. Hieu Vu, the manager of the hotel sent his 2 car to pick 5 of us for free airport transfer. On the arrival at 11:30pm, our first impression to the hotel counter was beautifully decorated with bright lighting in the darkness of the old Quarter street of Hang Be.
Mr.Hieu Vu & his staffs greeted us with smiling faces. Upon check-in the room on the 4th floor, the room was wonderful, big & Clean. The complimentary breakfast was simple with beef noodle, American BF & French bread but very delicious. The free internet service was next the the dining tables. Every staff in the hotel was freindly, they really made us feel at home.
Our day tour to Halong bay was pre-arrange by the hotel at very reasonable price, the service was good too.
Overall, I should credit most to the hotel for its Hopitality & cleanliness. I strongly recommend my freinds to this hotel for Hanoi.

Judge Hotels by the Company They Keep
The Rising Dragon Hotel is allegedly owned by Baotin Tourist Company based at 15 Hang Can Street - which also happens to be a hotel of dubious reputation known under various names including Ha Noi Queen / Ha Noi Lotus / Ha Noi Riverside / New Stars Hotel.
If Baotin owns both hotels why would they indulge in deception at one property and not the other?
Even the propiety of the star rating is dubious - who actually awarded these stars? Ha Noi Tourism or VNAT?
I inspect hotels all over VietNam and I find that honest hotels have two names maximum - one Vietnamese and one English.
During my inspection in 2007 August I chemically detected 'body fluids' around / on the toilet and soap residue on the basin and shower. This was AFTER the room was cleaned. I wasn't afforded the opportunity of testing the bedsheets for prior use.
I also found dirt under the bed and behind furniture in the room I checked.
Want a clean hotel? Pass on by there are so many in the Old Quarter to choo...Read more

no worries
I went to Hanoi worried about my lodging since the place has such a bad rep about cons and scams. This was a good place - great lobby area where I chatted with the American wife of the manager. They were welcoming to all of my family and helped us find restaurants and things to do. The room was pretty big although no outside window. we also forgot to flip the hot water switch -- staff should do that for you when taking you to your room. other than those things, i thought the price was a bargain and we appreciated having a clean place to stay with the kids.

Satisfaction guaranteed
This is a nice hotel with friendly staff. I had a good room with view on 5th floor. Prices are reasonable and I had great experience with my tours. I compared prices with internet and was able to get better prices through their service. Definitely recommend this one.
Management Response from Hieu Vu, Manager We\'re happy that our other reviews are good and certainly don\'t mind if someone gives us critical feedback. I\'m having trouble with this review, however, for two reasons. One, we\'ve already had tripadvisor take down a similar review that was fraudulently posted. Second, I am in charge of booking and have had no customers with this name since we opened in June. Can you check this out maybe by emailing them? We actually DO have a refund policy and are more than happy for them to get in touch so that we can clear this up - if it\'s a real posting. Thanks in advance for your help!
