Hotel stay cancelled due to NO Cust Svc from USA reservations

Booked the hotel - it looks and I have good reviews from my collegues - but when I called USA customer service to arrange a private car pick-up at the airport so I could get to the hotel - in advance of my stay - they said they could not and said to make Intl LD call to hotel to try - no other assistance - cancelled and stayed at Sheraton Grande...
