Don't know where to begin really. The staff is absolutely untrained and rude. The environment surrounding the hotel is an absolute mess and the rooms are just appauling. The rain occasionally was seeping through the roof tiles. Hot water ONLY on demand and we even had to wait about an hour or so for the water to heat up. I would NEVER recommend this dump to anyone.

Unacceptable rooms, service and above all attitude. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to any self respecting traveller. My wife and I both had food poisoning, got our camera stolen and still got charged for the food.
This hotel is a death trap an should be closed down ! It's just a matter of time. I really hope someone is actually looking at these reviews !

We were greeted by an over excited manager who positively bounded around. This seemed quite alien after the discreet local service we have received at other hotels in Sri Lanka.
The room was stylish, clean and lovely to look at. However, it was not so good to be in, it felt cramped once we were in with our luggage and beware the Moorish-styled grilles which link the rooms together and to the outside verandahs. Our bathroom let in all the sounds and smells of the kitchen, and we adjoined the "living room". After asking fellow guests to keep it down at 2.15 (and being ignored) we endured another hour of loud music, arguments, and debate before they went to bed. There had been no member of staff to assist either. We are not killjoys but the connecting panel let in all the noise and the other guests may as well have been in our bedroom. There was no fridge or hospitality tray the Sun House expect guests to purchase refreshments and do not provide a tea tray although we had found one in every other hotel room on our tour.
Finally, beware the price of dining in house. This will cost about £16 each without drinks, service or tax. We had a great local meal in a quality hotel for about £5.50 each with drinks so the hotel meals are very expensive for the local environment. No one dined in on the night we stayed there.
All in all, lovely to look at, nice gardens (though the swimming pool was prone to debris from the overhanging tress dropping in) this is a lovely hotel for a photograph but not practical to stay in or eat at. C & N, Medway, Kent

Filthy hotel. We left after 2 days. Not worth one dollar to stay here. The sun house hotel in galle is definitely the worst hotel we have ever stayed in our entire lives and would not go back even if they paid us !!!

I was sent a confirmation email which "confirmed" a suit. Upon my arrival, they gave me a standard room with the excuse that they didn't want to move me every week to another room. In they email they never mentioned anything about moving. They just waited for me to arrive and then mention it to me. Anyway...
3 days into my stay, someone broke into my room while I was away and stole a pair of valuable cufflinks. Security is absolutely appauling since they think they have nothing to do until somebody gets robbed. The personel does not speak English and not too helpful either. The police came and took fingerprints of the room. Surprise surprise they found NO fingerprints. The weird thing was that they didn't find MY fingerprints either. Obviously pointing out that the thief was someone who had access to room keys and could wipe away the room nice and clean.
I don't know what else to say really. I'm simply appauled. And the rates they charge are absolutely unfitting to a dump of a hotel like the sun house. The pool is more like a lagoon, no abiance, no spa and no 'working' internet facility. With the same money we stayed at Aman Galle which has superb facilities and hospitality which is ALOT more than we can say for The Sun House.
Absolutely dreadful.
