Tips for anyone going to Bintan Lagoon Resort: Bring your own cup noodles/dumplings/snacks. The meals will really rip you off. We had to pay $35 for 5 miserable chicken wings and the same price for a stale looking piece of fish called 'red snapper'. It was just ordinary fish fillet which can probably be bought for $2. And worse still, these (3 portions costing $105) came in a single plate. No pride in the food at all. 3 pieces of prawns was $48. The waiter refuse to let us dine unless we ordered one of these main courses for the above cut throat prices. The corn and veg were stated in the main menu, but we were told they don't come under main dishes. ?! And the staff at karaoke were extremely rude. We were singing halfway when they came in to ask for payment. And my mother had to rummage through the bag for a long time and had to ask me what the conversion rate was. Very bad place to stay. Total exploitation of their guests. You have now choice in dinning, tours or souveniers other than those offered to you by the resort at exorbinate prices. You cannot even leave the resort without paying the resort over 100 S$ for one thier special taxis, the only ones allowed inside the barbed wire gates. They also play games by charging you in Sing$ for everything and then coverting to Indonesian currency (at miserable rates) at checkout if you can't pay in Sing$ or try to use a credit card. I cant think any reason to charge you Sing$ in Indonesia. It appears to be just one more way to rip off its guests. Do not make the mistake of going there!
