The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. They were renovating and the breakfast restaurant was sometimes a bit like a factory canteen around 0930 but not too bad really. One rather alien thing was perhaps the other guests, predominantly fierce-looking Arabs with their wives shrouded totally in black (they sat by the pools watching their men swimming) The street markets outside at night are great fun as are the local restaurants - try the Kampong over the road for wonderful cheap local food in a garden setting.

We have stayed at the G.S.3 times and will be back again in 2007. It is ideally located in the midst of the night markets and hundreds of restaurants. We always have breakfast in the hotel but have our evening meal outside somewhere. If you want a great experience catch the local bus from right outside the hotel into Georgetown.

As usual with the Shangri-La group a top class hotel with excellent staff and good quality rooms and amenities. Although a fairly large hotel the grounds bars and restaurants never seemed crowded. A special word of praise for the 'wee' girl who greeted everyone with a big smile throughout our stay.
