A great deal in Tokyo!
I stayed at Hotel Universe Nihombashi Kayabacho for two weeks, late March/early April in 2005. I had three important criteria: low price, high-speed internet access, and convenient location. This hotel aced all three. I paid 6,200 yen per night (except for Thursdays, which were about 8,820 yen per night). I'd requested a room with internet access, which was just good, but good enough. And I was practically on top of Kayabacho station, with access to the Hibiya and Tozai subway lines. This put me no more than about 2 stops away from any other subway line in Tokyo. I could get anywhere with no problem. (Get a subway map and don't leave home without it - this is the *only* way to get around in Tokyo!)
The rooms are tiny, but comfortable. No view to speak of. Having a private bath in a room at this price is a big plus. If you're in a single room, be aware that there's no closet and no drawers - just a couple of pegs, maybe 8 cm long, to hang things.
