We were on a four nights trip in Bali and we stayed for 2 nights at Conrad Bali. Only thing that we can say from our stay is that the service from the hotel is way below par to any 5 star resort or hotel. We have booked the hotel 3 months before our arrival and the hotel has ask for our flight details 1 month in advance in the pretense that they want to make sure that our rooms will be ready when we arrived. On the day, we arrived at 2.00 p.m (our check-in time) however we only managed to get into all our rooms at 5.00 p.m. When we requested for a late check-out due to the late check-in time, hotel staffs were not helpful, and didn't even bother to response or follow-up. Only when we have raised the issue to the resident manager, then they try accommodate that request albeit reluctantly.
We ordered noodles from the children's menu for the kids and waited for more than one and half hour before it is delivered. And that is after constant calling to room service to check on the status, the reply that we got every time we called room service was that the food is on the way. (We wondered where do they actually get the food from that it requires more than an hour to be delivered). When the food finally arrived, to our horror, the noodle soup is already mixed with chili. When we complained that they have put chili into a kid's food, the reply that we got was that there was none. But upon tasting the food, it was definitely too spicy for the kids. We asked the staff to actually taste the food before they finally acknowledge that the noodle contain chili. So we have to order spaghetti. BTW, the hotel didn't even took the initiative to refund the noodle soup.
Upon checking out, we were shocked to find that there were extra charges (Service Tips was the description) on our bill. The staffs said that we have eaten in the Suku coffee shop and that we have requested the tips to be billed to our room. Make one wonders, how could it be possible that we paid the food in cash and the tips to be billed to the room). Anyway, we asked the hotel to produce the signed receipt, since they insisted that there was such a bill consisting of tips only. After searching for half an hour, they couldn't find it and reluctantly removed it from our bills.
The impressions that we got from our stay in Conrad was that to pay the kind of money for the horrendous service that comes with it was definitely not worth it. The services that the hotel provides still has got a long way to catch up with the great, nice and clean rooms that the hotel provides.

We know that travelling anywhere outside of the US was going to be different. We accepted the fact that we paid a little more what locals pay anywhere. BUT when they make it blatantly obvious that, they are milking you for every last penny...then we've got a problem. I am an Asian American travelling with a native Indonesian and 2 Caucasians. We walk into the Conrad and were instantly amazed at the elegant decor, tall ceilings, and overly friendly staff. We were greeted by the front desk, seated, given welcome drinks, the works. As talk of the room availability came around we were told that the room we requested was not available and in fact, they were fully booked and could not accommodate us. As we were planning on checking out another hotel./...magically, a room opens up. We were told that this room was lagoon level (which is 250 a night) and could on accommodate 2 guests max. Still wouldnt work because we have four. The guy says they now have a deluxe SUITE (which is 350 a night). So now we are thinking ok...thatll work... We took the two rooms ...signed the paperwork and everything settled in and then we get the call...suddenly they change their mind saying that the lagoon room was only available for that night and that we'll have to switch to a deluxe suite the next night (which is 350 a night). They also added that our first night at the suites were 350 a night and that our second night was 450 a night...which I thought was weird but I guess made sense if it was the weekend. At the thought of the inconvenience this would cause, we opted to take two deluxe suites... The unbelievable part was in both cases when our rooms were presented to us ...our rooms were next to each other .... the hotel was never booked up... the rooms to the either sides of us was empty...the restaurant was never full or even half the capacity.... the pools were not filled with children or sunbathing adults... the entire place was less than half capacity.. So where did the WE ARE FULLY BOOKED come from? A mere ploy... The whole feel of the business transaction was just like the hawkers at the airport or on Kuta beach. Really ... Please change your ways. Oh and with all the extra-added charges ...our total bill for two nights was 2100 dollars....
