A good hotel at a bad place

Puri is a bad place. Only due to the temple it is famous. But this hotel is a good one to stay in. The only thing that was bad was the restaurant was veg and non veg and it took a lot of time for them to prepare the food.

Perfect location....on chakratirtha road, away from the noise of shargodwar....right on the beach....delicious food served in an a/c environment....very good service with smiling attendants. Good experience.

The staff are very polite and service is very good. The hotel is easily accessible from any corner of town. We have enjoyed and discoverd a new place at Puri although we are very near to Gopalpur Sea beach but we like the beach adjorning to hotel. It is a nice time for us.

Hotel staff was helpful. Polite & Cooperative. Food was good and a nice view of the sea was available from the balcony of the rooms. Main locational disadvantage was the dirty and filthy drain running adjacent to the hotel. Along with the breeze, a foul smell often came from the drain.

If you take my word, dont go by what people had said in the past about Hotel Samudra. I visited in May 2008 and experience was so bitter that I have decided not to go back to this place again. There has been a significant deterioration in service standards, facilities and as the manager himself agreed changes (for the worse) in attitude of the "new staff" (many of the old staff has left the hotel and if you are looking for that warmth, its no longer there). A/Cs are not at all maintained and even if you had opted for an A/C suite you will be better off spending time in the balcony for some fresh air. Hotel Samudra for me is a strict no no, thanks to its old, rotten and indifferent attitude.

Just would like to suggest that best place to stay in this hotel as the rooms are designed such a way that you can feel and enjoy the sea view all the day.

I stayed at Hotel Samudra on two counts and the experience was amazing. Morning breakfast consisting of Puri bhaji was amazing. It's located right on the beach. At night, you can hear the roar of the ocean right from your room or balcony. Bathroom is very neat. Check out the spongy gulab jamuns sold right on the beach. You can call a vendor within the hotel premises too. The banquet hall is ok. Food is awesome. The hotel will stay in your memory long time after the last sand drop has been washed away from your trouser pockets.

Nice room especially at time of booking reservation persons suggest the room. Good food. The staff were courteous and available whenever required.
