This is the most horrible hotel experience that we have come across. We had booked the room 3 weeks in advance and also confirmed on the day of travel. And when we reach there....they say that they have given our room to someone else and they wanted to shift us to another group hotel which was shoddy. We even complained to police but thy refused to lodge a complaint. Obviously the group has their contacts in place. They deceive all customers and provide shoddy services. The manager is a liar of the first order, a creepy guy. The main marketing guy is also an arrogant, creepy guy. The whole group is so. Please DO NOT go to any of the group hotels either --> Oakwood, Sunderban, Woodland, Meru. Also the police is not going to support you. They are all sold out. Its a big racket.

The hotel is supposed to be owned by good group, but they have not visited it looks like. The manager Tanveer who is the operations person, is arrogant, and really nasty. He does not understand customer. Hotel suffers from cleanliness once you are checked in. Local staff is good but helpless since Tanveer calls the shots, once transaction is over with you and you have agreed to pay, he is very very horrible hotel manager to deal with. Incredibly rude. Lack of customer centric attitude.

I couldn't believe my eyes. The room shoddy with cockroaches and it had 2 beds that wouldnt meet completely. The head of the bed was actually something fixed on the wall and none of the lights except for the bathroom light worked. We had to just change hotels the next morning. Thank god we paid only for the first night. The owners have plenty clout, so maybe thats why this 'hotel' still stands. Of course, it looks nothing like the pictures.

No fresh towels, no toilet paper, the most horrible breakfast you can immagine, Internet works off and on. No chance even to complain to the management: Mr. Khalid TANVIR just refuses to talk with you. They have only the intention to use you as a money- machine. If you pay a little bit more you get perfect services at: "Oakwood residence"

I stayed in this so-called hotel during January 2008. I stayed in the new re-modeled side wing for the discounted rate of Rs 5,200 plus 10% tax (appr. 140,00 US $). For this money I hardly ever could get a hot shower during the 2 weeks I stayed here. The hotel switches on the hot water through wood (!!) at 7 am, so we expected hot water to arrive at 7.30. Mostly it never did. The last 2 days some brown soup like liquid came into the sink.
I photographed it. On our complaints the desk just told us, they will send the boy, or it is Sunday the plumber cannot come.
In 2 weeks this situation has not been fixed. There is no hot water in the morning, day time or evening. No response from the owners, a very wealthy and influential local family, who owns other hotels and obviously manages to guard off police or other complaints.
The underpaid boys working on the property do their best, but this is a case of classic exploitation from the owners, due to the location next to the Osho Resort.
If you can, move into the Osho Resort Guesthouse for half the price and much better conditions!

I am a seasoned traveller in India, both as a professional (academic research) and a tourist. Hotel Sunderban is my worst experience in years. They pretended they had not received advance payment from my agent for the room booked and fully paid, and tried hard to make us pay a second time, we had to threaten to make a police report before prior payment was acknowledged; they "upgraded" us to a "studio room" that was being refurbished, but unfinished and under work: no hot water, no towels, no toilet paper, no fridge, no tap on the sink, dust everywhere, construction workers on the unfurnished balcony... No trace of the style of a "heritage hotel". Noise, noise and noise (from the Osho ashram and construction work). "Breakfast" (cold, just bread and butter) at 9.15 am (fixed time). NONE of the services advertised, not even a phone in working order. We were charged an additional 1860 rupees for the "upgrade" and are now trying to be refunded.
