Though I lived in Chandigarh during my university education from 1964-70, and often went by Aroma Hotel, yet I remember going inside only once for our college get together party in 1969 after I successfuly completed the M.A. part I. Our Principal, and other staff members and students had a great evening cellebration party. It was nice. All I remember now that the Aroma Hotel, Sector 22/C is located across from Sainik Rest House, along a thoroughfare, going North to Sukhna Lake. Aroma is probably one of the original landmarks of Chandigarh because I visited it forty years ago, and it was probably built in early 1950s. It must be over half a century old hotel. The modern world has changed a lot and so rapidly at present. I cannot say what is its present condition, maintenance, and service, since lot more new hotels are built in Chandigarh. I saw a whole bunch of shop-cum-flats converted into Hotels in Chandigarh during my visit in 2006/7, which is much more congested city with vehicular traffic and noise. I left India in October, 1972 and became a Canadian Citizen, and I currently, Edmonton, Alberta is my home. All my children were born in Edmonton, which is very beautiful especially during the summer with cool weather, and lush green river valley parks, and trails. I lived in Chandigarh, during my adolescent years, when It was much smaller, and less congested, and beautifully designed cities. Chandigarh was the darling city of most Indians. Rose Garden was built by Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa, ICS, first Chief Commissioner, after Chandigarh became the Union Territory in 1966.
