This hotel can only be described as excellent. The rooms were as previously reviewed pretty basic but no more than you would expect from similar type of accommodation in Spain. Our room was on the first floor and consisted of a large balcony, double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. There was also a living room with swing doors to a kitchen area. We also had ceiling fans, air conditioning and cable TV. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bedding and towels changed on a daily basis. The hotel is set in tropical gardens and is located in a quieter and more upmarket part of Candolim. Because of the relatively small size of this hotel it makes it feel more personnel. The staff can only be described as excellent. We were treated like Royalty throughout our stay and were on first name terms with the waiters. The food was excellent catering for most tastes with a different theme every night including curries, kebabs, continental and veggie dishes etc. The swimming pool was small but never appeared crowded despite the hotel being full. The closest beach was located at the back of the hotel. This is more Sinquerim than Candolim and is at the quieter end. Go to Victor and Godfeys shack (first on right). The Kingfisher is ice cold and the chips are like your grandmother used to make. This was quite simply the best holiday we have ever had. Once you get over the culture shock including some terrible poverty India is a fascinating place to visit. We have already booked to return to the Aldeia Santa Rita for next December.

One of the finest places in Goa . It is calm, neat and cosy hotel. The thing which is outstanding is the great service and the greater food. The glasses are never empty and if you are in for a relaxation you have found THE PLACE. Great Hotel!

We were a little apprehensive with regard to accommodation prior to arriving in Goa and the journey from the airport did not help, but we were very pleasantly surprised upon reaching the Santa Rita. First impressions - it was a haven of peace and tranquillity. Accommodation is in 9 small blocks, we were a party of 6 adults and each couple were in a different block giving us access to a 3rd of the accommodation. Each room was described as basic but had all the amenities you would need. The en-suite was very clean the shower was easy to work and the pressure good. The bed linen and towels were changed daily. The mini bar was re-stocked twice a week but you could also use it for your own purchases. The staff was very friendly every one was on first name terms and they went out of their way to ensure you had a good time.
The choice of food at each meal was good and especially at breakfast and lunch if you wanted something different they were more than happy to prepare it for you.
The hotel was full the whole time we were there but you could always find space around the pool. A couple of members from our party enjoyed the massarges and thought they were well worth the cost. All of our took advantage of the on complex tailor and went home with more clothes than we came with. The walk from the rear of the hotel to the beach is a short stroll but it is over deep hot sand so footwear is required. Our first impression turned out to be spot on. We all enjoyed our stay at this hotel; some have already booked to go back next year.

The exterior of building and pool area are very attractive with lovely plants and shady trees. However the room was very sub standard with stained bed linen and towels and the stained toilet seat was most off-putting. There was a small wardrobe but no other storage space whatsoever or even a dressing table. The power of the shower was poor and intermittent. The staff are very friendly and helpful as indeed the Goan people are in general. The lunches and evening meals were good but unlesss you like a cooked breakfast every day the selection was poor; orange squash rather than fresh juice, bitter instant coffee to be made yourself and apart from a banana or orange no selection of the delicious exotic fruits that Goan is known for or yoghurts or pastries etc etc. I have been to Greece on many an occasion and am used to basic accommodation but I found this to be truly dreadful. We were also there when the Bollywood crew turned up and I can only hope that this encourages the hotel management to upgrade the interiors to match the picturesque exterior.

Lovely hotel, great staff and food. Had considered returning next year until, on the last day they allowed a film crew of around 40 people to take over the poolside, bar and restaurant, (to promote the resort!) telling guests to get out of the pool, moving the sunbeds and actually calling in security guards to keep people off the facilities when we complained! We counted seven guards, who would physically push guests off the 'set'!
Apparently this was going to go on for two days! The management response? If you dont like it, just go! In other words, all the hard work done by the staff means nothing to the manager, to him we were just cattle and his hotel is much more important than your holiday. He refused any compensation and shouted at us for getting in the way. I short, he ruined our holiday .If you really want to enjoy Goa, please do, but don't stay at Stalag Santa Rita.

This hotel was brillant, always very clean and the staff were brillaint, always made sure you had what you wanted and very friendly. There was always something everyone could eat even if you are the fussiest eater and the drinks are free flowing.Even though the hotel was full while we were there the swimming pool was always empty, great for cooling off as the weather was HOT (pool is quite cold though). Our room was pretty basic but bed was comfortable and the fridge was great for keeping the drinks cold and for the masses of fruit we seem to buy!.The sheets were changed when we went out and we had lovely planes, animals, kites etc made from the towels left on the bed. The road outside the hotel was fairly quiet but if you walked into Candolim it became busier, the cars do like to hoot as they pass to let you know they are there, and it seemed very funny when you saw a lonely cow wandering down the street with you, but hey, this is Goa and everthing is laid back.

We have just returned from a fantastic two-week holiday to the Aldeia Santa Rita. The hotel can only be described as excellent. If you are going to the Aldeia Santa Rita, or thinking about it, are you in for a treat! It is excellent value for money and what it lacks in star rating it more than makes up for it with the staff. We were treated like royalty. Every member of staff went out of their way to make our holiday a brilliant one, and the food is excellent.
No need to take any towels as beach towels and towels in room are provided daily. No hair dryer though. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean, although a little lived in.
If you need a guide and taxi for the day, call Jerom on 9822587362, he is brilliant!
This hotel is well worth revisiting.

I've been to Goa with family and friends for the last 3 years - couldn't get in to Santa Rita last year but been twice before. Going this year and already booked again for next Chritsmas. It is so friendly and welcoming that anywhere else does noy compare. The staff especially Orlando cannot do enough for you. It has a good easy accessible position- near a lovely beach and some lively bars and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and the room boys keep them spotless for you. I would receommend this hotel to people who enjoy being looked after, good food and excellent service - although not posh like the Taj (next door) it provides an excellent base for your stay in Goa.
