| Used to have great live band |
| Stayed here a few times - its not in the easiest location, but it is on the island and near an MTR station. Good price, comfortable and spacious rooms, helpful staff, especially the concierge. The highlight was always the band in the downstairs bar - they were called the First Rate Band and they really were. Could play anything you wanted with real instruments!Unfortunately they've moved on after several years residency and don't know where. Recently I've stayed more often at what was called Regal Kaitak Hotel in Kowloon City, (may be the Regal something else now) due to work being located on Kowloon side. This is a good hotel, but not close to an MTR so its hotel mini bus or taxi time. Worth the effort though - near to some of the best small restaurants in Hong Kong for all types of cuisine, and Kowloon Park and other historic stuff (Temples, Nunnery etc) nearby. Great staff, good rates, China Coast Bar has good atmosphere, seafood restaurant, good Dim Sum, big rooms, better than being in commercial centre, because you get near to a more authentic Hong Kong with lots of day-to-day specialist shops and markets. |
