i enjoyed this holiday so much, i would love too go back again and could of cried when i arrived back home.. the people in the hotel were very friendly, the animation team very funny and entertaining, the hotel was clean and i felt very welcome. the beach was only across the road, and had lifeguards on it from our hotel who saved us deckchairs every day! i would defo go back again!
the only negative sides, were the lifts which broke half way through the week, and to go out at night, was a struggle as you had hassel hassel hassel!
other than that, i enjoyed my stay very much :)

Historical Traveller Reviews of Yasmine Beach Resort Hotel

Loved It

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was very apprehensive going to this hotel as I had read some very bad reviews about it. But unfortunately it was too late for me to change the hotel. So I decided to go and just see what its like. I went with my mum and dad who are both 49 and I am 24.

I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the hotel and the reception area. The reception staffs were extremely nice and friendly. We booked the hotel through Medhotels and paid for a double room, requesting three single beds with a garden view. Once we arrived at the hotel we asked if we could get a sea view. Which we did and it was amazing.

We were on an All Inclusive bases, but most of the time we had our lunch out of the hotel as we were always out and about visiting other towns.

Both the restaurant and bar staff were very professional and extremely pleasant and friendly. The room was cleaned everyday and all bed sheets were changed.

With regards to the food they served, well they had a wide selection of food which was served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At dinner time there were 3 to 4 different chefs cooking either Italian, chine’s, and Indian food which was superb.

Restaurant / Bar Staff: Fantastic, extremely friendly and helpful especially, Hichem, Hafiz, Mohammad Ali, Yasin, Fatih just to name a few.

Room: Very clean and lots of room

Food: Don’t expect fish and chips, if that’s what you are looking for then go to Blackpool!!! They serve traditional Tunisian food as well as Chin’s, Italian and Indian. Fantastic desert and salad section, with fresh bread being baked every 30 minutes. Through out the day snacks were also available.

Alcohol: Not a great deal of choice when it came to AI drinks, but we weren’t big drinkers anyway.

Suitable for: There were lots of families with young and teenage children who seemed to be having a great time. Lots of couples, and also groups of friends as well as more mature guests.

Over all: Even though the hotel is rated 5*, I don’t think that is the case it is more like a 3* Hotel but I was still pleasantly surprised.

We visited this hotel last week on a weeks holiday supposedly "all inclusive" - which was a complete joke because even though we knew that the alcoholic drinks were locally produced, the variety and availability of the said drinks was extremely poor. It was even impossible to get a decent cup of instant coffee or tea without it tasting like dishwater. No other european brands of alcohol were available either, even if you wished to purchase these separately from your all inclusive package. There was just none to be had.... The food also left a lot to be desired, if you like rabbit or turkey every day of the week you would probably be happy with this. We noticed that food not finished on the day frequently appeared in different guises the following day. Salad was in abundance, but you can only eat so much salad, especially when the weather is so cold and wet. The only thing I can compliment the hotel on was the bread and pastries, they were always a delight to eat.

However these problems were very small in the light of the problems we went on to encounter.
The rooms were very nice, clean and bright but the showers (in other guests rooms too I might add) did not stay on the temperature selected and unexpectedly turned scalding hot whilst you were in the shower. This of course was not acceptable and we complained straight away on the first day of our vacation. Even though they registered our complaint at the reception desk, no one came to investigate or sort this problem out. After 3 days we were still unable to have a safe shower. In view of this I would not let my Son take a shower and so he had to make do with good wash downs etc.

Even this extremely dangerous problem was not considered the worst. Many guests went on to complain how dark it was inside the corridors of the hotel. You could not see when climbing staircases and you were unable to see the lock in your room door to enter the key into it without using a torch or lighter ! Very strange ! It seemed like the hotel was being very careful about its electricity bill to me !

The windows and frames along the corridors all leaked and unfortunately because it never stopped raining at the beginning of the week, water damage was widespread over carpet areas which had become saturated. My Son slipped and fell against a wall because of sodden carpets. He hurt his shoulder and I intend to complain most severely about this particular problem. Even more dangerous was the fact that the escaping water was left lying on marble staircases in dark corridors where people could quite easily slip and hurt themselves badly. We even saw water leaking through the reception ceiling and onto an electric light fitting! This was not attended to immediately, it was like this for two days before any workmen showed up to look at it! Unbelievable. The place was a health and safety hazzard.

I felt that we had come to a hotel which should have been closed down. It was a very dangerous place to be in the bad weather that we experienced last week whilst there. We felt so cold all the time because the hotel is so large and obviously was not built to accomodate winter weather. No heating was provided to counteract this extreme weather and no apology or explanation was given or indeed offered. We found the management unwilling to even try to resolve these issues, even though several of the guests and myself spoke at length with the manager of the hotel. We just kept getting the brush off. The kids club that appeared to be available on the website did not exist in reality. Any entertainment provided by the hotel in the evening was of a very poor standard, perhaps some of the younger guests enjoyed it. It seemed rather immature to me ! Most of the older guests entertained themselves with conversation or the odd game of cards before retiring to their rooms.

I would seriously think long and hard if you are considering a holiday at this hotel. Save your money and go somewhere safe !!

Relaxing place

from A TripAdvisor Member
Having read reviews of the hotel Yasmine Beach I was a bit concerned but need not have been. I found the place very clean and tidy with good service. We were two blokes on a golfing and relaxing holiday and have to say in November the place was buzzing but not busy, quiet but not dead and a great temperature for golf in the sun. The rooms are comfortable and have everything i needed. The hotel is older than some around but had all we needed. Three pools, restauraunts, bars, gym and a sauna/massage place. I have to say the massage was probably the best i've ever had...nothing tacky but a real muscle buster. The food was excellent with a wide choice for everyone...except it would seem British children....I blame the parents! I loved the hot and cold self service food.....just don't go if you want pie beans and chips! (although there were sometimes chips) and the waiters were very attentive...though more so if you are female! I have to say it was warm, friendly and great value. Don't think I'd go in high season but for winter sun just majic. I'd go again.

Impressed

My wife and I had a great week here at the end of October. We had read very mixed reviews but have to say that we were pleasantly surprised at the high standard of the hotel, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff (bar the guy at the beach in charge of the free loungers, who wanted to be tipped every day - we didn't!) and the quality of the food. We started off on half board but switched to all inclusive, which paid for itself for the booze alone (they have their own pretty good micro-brewery and the house wine was very drinkable). It took us a while to get used to the buffet style but they had dishes freshly cooked (in front of you) every lunch and dinner. One word of warning don't bother with the a la carte you are allowed once a week - they mean well but it was terrible.
One other bit of advice; find a way to tip early on in your stay and you will be looked after like royalty!
Yes the entertainment was geared to Germans but we don't much like hotel-type evening entertainment anyway.

After reading bad reviews, were pleasantly surprised

from A TripAdvisor Member
Hotel was not as bad as we were dreading but it did have a few faults, namely the mainly German guests were catered for on the entertainment front but if you did not speak German you were out of luck! even children were excluded from joining the kids club unless they were German. The rooms were clean but the towels were the worst I have ever had in a hotel (I dry my dogs on better) and if you are expecting a partial sea view, don't be surprised if you can't even hear it let alone see it.

Super holiday

We had a super holiday. Great food, nice clean hotel and rooms. The review from Great hotel fun for everyone" from Sep 8, 2005 covers the hotel perfectly. The reviews which say it is rubbish are complete nonsens. Its great there !

Great hotel fun for everyone

from A TripAdvisor Member
due to reading other reviews about this hotel it didnt seem very good and we were going there on a chance of 50/50 however to find out all the bad reviews people had wrote about this hotel it seemed to make me laugh.
hotel yasmine beach is a very good hotel must i say the service is good, food is great nice meal plan if u want to know the plan its
Breakfast- 6:00am-10:00
Lunch- 12:00pm-2:00
Dinner- 7:00pm-9:00
do be aware though the outside pizzeria is known to finish later for lunch then the restruant on the main floor.
service was also very good the maids would work very hard on each room they would do, if u were to go out in the morning the time u were back ur room would be spotless clean.
the swimming pools are great the hotel has 2 swimming pool outside one outside on the second floor and 1 on the ground floor the hotel also has a swimming pool inside the hotel however when we were their it was being refurbished and as we were at the hotel in the summer the indoor swimming pool is only open in winter.
their wasnt alot of english people at the hotel it was mostly french, germans, and italians however that wasnt a rather big set back afterall i came to yasmine beach to have some time out with my family not to look at people. but i did make alot of freind with the italians as i could a fair amount.
yasmine beach also has a great and fun animation show everynight for the children from 9:00pm till 9:30pm after that the show is merely based for adults.
the children show time is very fun it keeps the kids occupied alot the animation team do dances and children songs mostly in italian though but its still great fun!! as the animation team still can speak some english. and on every wendesday the hotel has a whole tunisian theme with belly dancers at night and tunisian food at the restraunt. the also have a day when someone does tricks with fire, glass, kinves etc. for the audience which is very exciting however u should hope u dont get picked to join in becuase its quite scary.( the show is performed in english :)!! )

Overall i must rate this hotel 5/5 as my 2 weeks staying at the hotel with my family was very fun and exciting!!!

P.S
you must go out at night as its more cooler at night, thats when most of the shops and people come out. and if u do go to this hotel you must try the camel rides in medina its great fun!

fab fortnight in tunisia

Just back from an amazing two week holiday at the yasmine beach hotel. I had to be prized off my sun lounger kicking and screaming to get the coach home! Hotel and resort very plush, white sands and warm blue sea, extremely idylic. Hotel staff helpful, polite and friendly, they made us feel at ease and comfortable which enabled us to relax as soon as the holiday started. Can't believe all the bad reviews this place got previously.

lovely hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
we have just returned from seven nights at yasmine beach hotel i was very apprehensive about going to tunisia and also yasmine beach having read some bad reviews but i was happily surprised at how lovely the hotel was we arrived late at night the staff were very friendly they provided a light snack and a drink then a porter took our cases to our room . yes the corridors are dark but it is in keeping with the theme of the hotel. the food was a little bland but there was a good choice of salad and fresh bread and having a sweet tooth there was a large choice of pastries and cakes.as soon as you say you are english people are very friendly and say they love the english because we are much more polite than other nationalities ie the germans of which were the majority followed by the italians therefore the evening entertainment was in german or italian which i was very disapointed in because personaly i like live entertainment when on holiday. we spent most of our holiday on the lovely beach opposite the hotel there is a bar on the beach which is part of the allinclusive serving soft drinks all day. the swimming pools wre lovely but the entertainers would speak in german and play loud music all day or the germans would play strange games in the pool. the medina just up the road was lovely there are many shops but all selling much the same you are hassled but in a friendly way you just have to be politly firm and you have to haggle if you start to walk out of a shop the seller will usually give you the price you want. all in all i enjoyed my stay in yasmine beach and would return there.

Top Local Tips for Hammamet

Excursions Book a couple of excursions. Yasmine Hammamet is only a small part of Tunisia. It's good to get out and about and see a bit more of the country while you're there.

Tip the bar staff with vodka If the bar staff learn that you've got vodka and you give them some rather than tipping with money, they'll look after you properly.

Dont take your eyes off! Make sure that you watch the item you have bought go into the bag when you leave the shop as they often take your cash and then swap the product for one of inferior quality behind your back.
