This was the best holiday eva, the entertainment team were all brilliant and always there to have a laugh with you especially Lauro!!! Although the locals and staff at the hotel were over friendly some times, it didn't put a damper on the holiday.

Holiday from hell

from A TripAdvisor Member
Like many others, I visited this site just after I booked my holiday to Hammamet Gardens, although I was a bit concerned about the negative reviews I took them with a pinch of salt. However on arrival at the hotel I soon realised that most of the negative comments were true. The staff at the Hammamet gardens were rude and unhelpful. They do not like serving all-inclusive' guests. The drinks which are included in the package are disgusting and the service at the bar is even worse. There were many times at dinner where I did not get a drink with my meal, which I was entitled to as the waiters were too busy serving the 'half board' guests. My advice is to hide your wrist band and you will recieve a much better service. There was a wide variety of food but the majority of it was very greasy. On more than one occassion I found bones on my vegitarian pasta. I would particularly advise against travelling with MED HOTELS as their care throughout my holiday was unacceptable.
I do not know what hammamet is like in peak season but in September it was a ghost town the majority of the bars are empty so there is little to do at night.
My stay at the Hammamet gardens was hugely disappointing and frustrating, I strongly advise against it especially paying for the 'all inclusive' package.

A great family holiday

Wonderful hotel briliant for famalies, good value for money. The staff very friendly and caring.Good facilities, very clean, really enjoyed the entertainment. We have children of two and five it was safe for them, the pools are brilliant. The food was delicious, plenty of choice. Beach is nearby, but you need to be prepared to take taxies to get to anywhere, but they are always outside the hotel and cheap.Overall a very enjoyable holiday so dont take notice of previous negative reports !!

After booking our week away to Tunisa this year i made the mistake of reading reviews of this hotel. Safe to say i was close to tears!
i would like to know where these people really stayed when they came to Tunisia because they certainly didnt stay here!!
The hotel was clean from the moment you woke up to the minute you went to bed. the food was fantastic( english food was provided). Breakfast in the morning was amazing, they have a chef who cooks you an omlette for you there and then!
The pool and pool area was spotless and nice to be around.
The atrium/bar area was airy dining room cosy(candles were lit each night for you) and staff friendly.
Over all i rate this as a +5star! i have already recommended to friends.

Great holiday

Was apprehensive after reading many offputting reviews but having just returned from resort we have had a great half board holiday. Hotel clean, good selection of food (as long as you are willing to try something different). Staff really friendly and beach great. Not much to do at night, didn't really go to entertainment at hotel but quite easy to get taxi to hammamet if you wanted. Would recommend hotel to anyone who is looking for a good value break in a good hotel. We were pleasantly surprised and felt quite safe/secure despite horror stories we had heard. Only piece of advice is to take a travel kettle if you like a cup of coffee/tea during the day and be sensible about where you go at night (just the same as here!). Happy holidays.

A fantastic holiday

from jmonaslb
My partner and I spent 10 days in Hammamet and had a fantastic time.
The hotel was clean, and staff were all very friendly.
We were h/b and had no complaints, but many a/i guests were complaining about lack of service and choice of drinks available.
The hotel food was brilliant, with lots of choice.
Only complaint is it said satalite TV... this consisted of BBC World which wasn't a clear picture!
Nightlife around the hotel is not like Europe, but we had a great time drinking/dancing till 4am... Havana bar and Latinos club are both in walking distance.
We went on the 2 day sahara desert trip which I would definatly reccommend, but do be prepared to spend lots of hours travveling in a coach, but the sights you see, you soon forgett the travelling.

an amazing african adventure

Before our holiday we had seen a lot of bad reports about this hotel and were very worried prior to going. panorama did nothing to ease our fears. When we got there the hotel was clean and modern although table & chairs grubby. Staff were cleaning every day in public places thru' out the hotel. food was good - first time on H/b.
Animation team (entertainment) were excellent and helped make a very enjoyable holiday even on the 2 days it rained (and it rained!!).
great entertainment in evening and unfortunately was chosen to participate one night and gave great amusement to the other guests but all in good fun.
Had trouble with patio door and on 2nd complaint it was fixed but air conditioning seemed to be struggling - our friends said their room was freezin' so I guess it was just our room.
Waiters and staff were very attentive and helpful (we were paying & tipping) but neglected the people who were all-inclusive. The all-inclusive people complained about small measures on limited drinks and small portions of lunchtime food. I would recommend H/B.
Swimming pools spotless.
If you wanted a lounger you had to get your towel on a chair by 7am - so much for lie-ins on holiday.
Not many brits but everyone we met were really friendly and everyone had a good time
I would recommend trips to Frusilla zoo park and la Djem (Roman Colliseum) both amazing experiences.
Would recommend hotel but if any problems push your complaint or it will be forgotten.
Overall rate holiday 9/10 and would definitely go back to Tunisia.

Great holiday

We were two weeks half-board which I would recommend. The food was amazing and the place very clean. The hotel has lush gardens which is tended to daily. The staff all work very hard and are vry friendly. If you are friendly to the waiters they look after you well. We tipped ours at the end of the holiday as he had worked so hard to look after us. We always gave him a wee bit extra when we paid our drinks bill.

As long as you are courteous with the staff they do look after you.

You do get pestered by touts but as others have said once they recognise you they do leave you alone. They enjoy a bit of banter back with them.

The Animation Team work hard to keep the kids entertained and put on good shows at night. We saw one show they put on and the whole show was done in different languages but you didn't need to know the lingo as the actions said it all. It was so hilarious and well done I was crying with laughter! The shows vary every night vary and obviously don't appeal to all tastes but you are bound to find one that you like.

There is always a kids disco every night - which is great for the little ones - but I am The Music Man and Ram Sam Sam start to get a bit wearing! ha ha!

Be warned that you are in a third world country and outside the grounds of the hotel it is barren and quite poor. You won't find any Burger Kings or MacDonalds like some guests we spoke to wanted!

There is nowhere really to walk to at night but there is a bar/hotel area near to Hammamet Garden.

But you don't really need to stray from the hotel as you have everything you need there.

What stunned us was we went for a walk at night to suddenly realise we were the only westeners out walking and then it hit me that I was the only woman on the street. All the men sit in the cafes and work in the shops. We didn't like sticking out but the local shopkeepers got to know us.

Can't fault the hotel in anyway and would definately go back.

Oh and the other thing is - we were lucky to spend £20 a day! We didn't need lunch. To show how cheap the country is we spent £5 a night on drinks with our meal which included a large bottle of water, a large glass of wine and a can of coke.

Be Careful

I returned from Hammamet Gardens 2 weeks ago and have only just got over the case of Food Posioning I received while out there. We didnt speak to one person in the hotel that didnt get food poisonng, a lot of people were cancelling their excursions as they were so ill. I was worried I would not be able to fly home as I was in so much pain. So if you want to find blood when you go toilet and crippling stomach cramps by all means book here! Public health have since contacted me to invstigate te hotel.

GR8 quad biking???

Myself wife and son (aged 11) went to Hammamet Garden Resort with high expectations, the resort was very nice and tidy, room cleaned everyday, cleaners were always scurrying around tidying up, although it was clean there was a danger that the floors were not dried correctly and the wetness was invisible to the eye and this meant people did slip around. having read a couple of other reviews I tend to disagree with some of the comments but not all. We were very dissappointed with the All Inclusive deal, Although the food was great, we felt that the drinks available to AI members was very limited to a small glass of local beer, nasty tasting wine and a choice of 2 local spirits (buckha and one other that I cannot even remeber the name) that was it. Also we felt that because we were not paying for drinks at the time the waiters did not come to you unless you gave them a tip, I asked one waiter for a drink and waited 20 minutes he never came back I then asked another and he never came back. In the end I relented and started giving tips to the waiters and had no further problems with getting drinks, i feel that we were treated very differently to the half board paying holidaymakers. Anyway the beautiful sunshine made up for the little disappointment we had, the beach was also great and if you do go I would recommend a trip on the quad bikes that was amazing and good value for money. Just be polite when asking the touts to leave you alone whilst you are sunbathing by the pool, you do get a little pestered on the first couple of days but when you have been there a while and they recognise you they leave you alone, My wife says the spa and massage parlour was great value for money.

I went a couple of weeks ago and i found it very entertaining. The people that participate in the show or great fun. I would recommend this hotel to loud people or deaf people.

Top Local Tips for Hammamet

BARTER Always barter when given a price for anything. You will be surprised how little you can pay.Especially out of season. Happy shopping.

airports use tunis airport not monastir. tunis is 1 hour transfer in a taxi. monastir is 4 hours.

Arabina Nights Trip This was a very good evening out. It cost approx £15-17 each and include 5 course meal and wine/beer which was much nicer than at the hotel. The actual show was OK too.
