On arriving at the hotel we new we had made a big mistake. First they tried to put us in a room that had not been cleaned, there were underpants lying about! We had to wait over 2 hours to finally get the room we had requested. The staff were not very helpful. The room itself was of 70's decor and could desperately do with a paint and a good clean. There was mould in the bathrooms and I had to go buy bleech and clean it before we could use it. The food was ok, what you expect for catering on a grand scale. The biggest let down of the hotel was the animation team that were there to supposedly entertain us, but they were to busy chatting up the girls to see what they could squeeze out of them. I know this happens a lot abroad, but here there was no shame, it looked like the hotel was condoning this behaviour. It was such a shame for the young girls how had been used and then tossed aside after thier money ran out. I would not recomend this hotel to anyone especially female travellers.

A very tired hotel.

This was our 5th holiday in Tunisia and staying at the Bel Azur made it the least pleasant of all. The best thing one can say about the hotel is its location which was ideal for beach lovers, bargain hunters since it was only a short walk or a 3 dinar (£1.20) taxi ride into Hammamet,or like us golfers. The golf courses are excellent standard and reasonably priced. The Bel Azur itself was looking very tired and desperately needs a thorough makeover. Our room was clean but the bathroom showed signs of dirt and mould and a running tap for the whole week. Unfortunately the kitchen and reception staff badly let down the hotel with their unhelpful and unfriendly attitude. We are going back to Tunisia next year but not to the Bel Azur.It is a 3 Star hotel and the food falls into that category but then you get what you pay for and it is a very cheap holiday.

I went with my mother, father and nephew (who was four at the time) well my nephew Kaine loved it the pool was lovely the entertainment was brilliant a 10 out of 10! Me and my family fought it was that good that we are going to keep going back there because it was just excellent I really do recommend it the people are just so friendly all the time! I really don't see how any one could disagree!

Bel Azure Hotel Hammamet is a very clean well maintained hotel the rooms clean and spacious, with a very friendly and helpful staff, they are true entertainers as well making for a very happy holiday, also having very clean safe beaches and indoor pool, the hotel is well situated and to go further a field taxis are always available at a very cheap rate £3 for a 10 mile ride, the Tunisians are a very proud and trustworthy people and always helpful, The only place i was unsure about was the old Medina which was a bit claustrophobic, but all excursions we did from the hotel, We being my husband and I with our daughter age 20 and son in law 24 went very well and was a lot of fun camel riding a gallion ship day out and a Zulu evening very good value so all in all a great holiday and hotel and being connected to the very posh and glamorous royal hotel nice for a romantic quiet evening with out the extra cost of a five star, The bel is every bit and more a four star plus.

I definitely think Komal went to a different hotel. The Bel Azur was spotless, the staff excellent, the food varied and fantastic and as a whole one of the best value for money holidays my family have ever been on. The nightlife is the only low point as there is very little but for a young family it is perfect. Definitely give this place a go!!!

Twelve Visits In 8 Years!

Well, what more can one say? I am rather baffled by Komal's review. If it was like he describes, I certainly would not be going back again and again (have already booked for November 2006 and also March 2007). The location of the hotel is first class, the food has always been good as have the attentive staff. I do go to various hotels in other countries, but this is one of the best I have come across. I know of many other repeat visitors who keep on going back. This just would not happen if it was as described by Komal.

Bel Azur is one of the dirtiest 3 star hotels I have ever seen, this should most definately be classed as a 2 star and no more. All rooms were dirty and full of cockroaches and ants. Unhelpful staff at hotel. Would not recommend anyone to this hotel.

Other reviewer must have name of hotel wrong!Rooms excellent, staff very attentive, food very varied and good. Best family holiday in a long time. Enjoyed every minute, and I am a demanding tourist!! Almost certain to go again; my youngest daughter didn't want to leave. Recommended.
