Prison Island Don't build your hopes up about this trip. The Island is now privately owned and you can't look around and the snorkeling is disappointing as the water was very cloudy and there was stinging things in there which spoilt the experience even though it is normal. A few colourful fish seen but could be very expensive for a whole family. $30 each for two and half hours. The giant tourists are in a small enclosure and could upset some people. better off booking early and going to Chumby Island but this has limited visitors and needs booking before you go.
memories Memories was a wonderful shop to buy small gifts for your friends..
Friendly Jeweller with good Merchandise There are several places that promote Tanzanite jewelry in Stonesdown. I ate lunch in a rooftop restaurant in a new hotel and while walking down noticed some lovely jewelry in some display cases along the stairwell. I noted the name and went over to La Opala, on Kenyatta Road (a main road in Stonestown) opposite the Shangani Hotel. The owner Farook Elias could not have been nicer and I was able to select a really fabolous tanzanite pendant that fulfilled my Tanzanite fantasies. They fabricate their own jewelry and will make up pieces for you on request. I would definitely go back again.
