The Mount Nelson has things one could qualify as 3 star and others as 5 star. The fact is that The Mount Nelson choose to not have a star rating and therefor very surprising it shows on this website it has a 5 star rating. Therefor my rating has to be 1

This may be a 5 star property, it is in fact a beautiful hotel in a lovely setting and obviously you pay for the privalage but my wife and I stayed here in a superior room as a treat overnight and we were disgusted with the service we received, All the staff had a superior attitude, the service was mediocre we tried to book a dinner at a reasonable time but were virtually told that 6;30 pm was the only time there was a table available and when we did eat in the restaurant we were the only people in there. The service was rushed and the waiting staff never even smiled. We were virtually ignored at the bar were treated as 2nd class citizens. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone

A wonderful week spent pampered by the staff that we found very friendly and helpful I just wished there were more choices at breakfast time. (I only jest) a very enjoyable week with my Daughter getting married and I would just like to say thank you for everything, maybe see you again in 2006 Room216 Maureen and Roger.

The best hotel I have ever stayed at. Charmful, sophisticated and everything about it is just simply superb. Not cheap though, but well worth the money if you can afford it.

Helicopter Fun! Me and my family all went in a helicopter in south africa , cape town. It was apsolutley AMAZING! The views were panoramic and cape town is just so beautiful that is was a joy to see!

places to eat There is a really good fish resturant called the Millers thumb where the personalzed service is grat and the chance to try fish cooked in different fashions great, if you want a mixture of mezze try Anatoli for a great night out, this turkish resturant provides great starters its hard to find space forthe equally good main course.For something a little cheaper the blue peter over in bloubergstrand provides pizza and other food but with a amazing and relaxing way to watch the sun go down over table mountain, its a great place to get the photos.Go to the winelands for great wine tasting and good resturants!!!!

private, smaller lodges are best value and experience Look for private accomodations (rated on this site and others)in the lovely seaside suburbs such as Bantry Bay, Clifton, in what looks and feels like a wonderful private home. Excellent accomodations, incredible views, home made great breakfasts and incredible dinners on par with any famed New York restaurants for under $200 in winter season. Would not stay at the Victoria waterfront in any of the hotels.
