Fish next door and down the road are good seafood restaurants. The famous fish market is a short drive along the same road, where you can hand pick your fresh fish, prawns etc and then get it cooked right there.

We were stopped on the way in (April 2008) and we had to bribe the officer to let us continue as he insisted we had insufficient car insurance (which was not true). There were two more stops on the way out but we just drove through them without stopping, which was harrowing and dangerous. Maputo has little value to the holiday traveler, if you must go for business then fly in, if you have a choice for holiday I would recommend avoiding the city.
