Make sure you book a double pool view room!

We were familiar with the Ibis chain so the hotel had little suprises and demonstrated good value. We booked a double room but were given a twin room which was annoying.

Also, the hotel is located next door to Meknes Macdonalds were the new middle class youngsters like to show off car alarm noises, quad bikes and anything else that is annoying late at night. So try and request a pool view double room.

On departure, the gardner tried to extract money from us for being "la guardian" of our car. This was clearly Ibis' private car park with no signs in any language stating that a parking fee was payable so we drove off in a foul mood at yet another Maroccan trying to extract money from tourists through ill conceived means.

If we had a quiet room with a double / queen bed and no dodgy gardner then this would have been a very pleasant stay.

La Dauphin restaurant La Dauphin is probably the best restau in Meknes. On three levels each with a unbeatable panomaric view of Meknes.The interiror is also beautiful, like a palace. The food is excellent , three courses and a bottle of wine for two people under 50 euros.The restaurant has to be seen to be believed.

Train stations Make sure you head for the correct station when leaving (taxi drivers will take you to the nearest one if you just say 'train station')
