Historical Traveller Reviews of Riad Le Clos des Arts Hotel

Great riad close to all the action

from matthew-kby
Just got back from 3 days staying at the this great Riad.
Its well located about 5 mins walk from the main square in a nice quite area, The owner Jean Pierre and his staff were fantastic. They helped us get our bearings and when asked were able to make some great recommendations for both restaurants and shopping.
Roof top terrace also a major plus to enjoy the afternnon sunshine .
Lastly my top tip is to contact the Hotel direct at www.lesclosdesarts.com to save having to pay commision to hotel bookers etc who bake 5-10% additional into the price.

Given the overwhelming choice of riads on offer in Marrakech, there really has to be something special for any one riad to stand out, but le Clos des Arts accomplishes this.

Owners JP & Edith have stunning taste (not surprising given that Edith is a very accomplished artist), and the decor throughout the hotel is wonderful.

The roof terrace really sets this riad apart from the crowd though, especially the pool. Apparently it is no longer permitted for roof pools to be built, so this is a bit of a rarity. Especially to get one so clean, fresh and large enough to actually move around in. As we were there at the beginning of August, this pool was invaluable, and worth choosing le Clos des Arts alone.

The food here (served on the terrace) is brilliant, as is the chef Abdul, and all the other staff.

The location is very central, and perfect for a good explore.

Next time I'm in Marrakech, with any luck, I'll be staying here.

What a superb place

Just returned from 7 nights in this riad in the old town of Marrakech. I picked it from TripAdvisor members' comments and they were spot on.
The owners are very attentive and the staff are fantastic. Very friendly and keen to help. We ate there twice - Abdul, the chef, is a star!!
The riad is beautifully decorated and so close to the Djemma El Fna square and to the souks. What a pleasure it is to return from a hot day in the medina to drop into the plunge pool on the roof - bliss!
If you get the chance, go on the day out to the mountains for a more or less strenuous hike with Ali or his brother Nordine. Freshly picked almonds never tasted so good.

Friendly english speaking owners and staff made us and our two young sons feel very welcome.

The riad was finished to a high quality and was only 5 mins from the square.

Roof top terrace provided an excellent chillout zone after a surreal day in the square and souks.

The riad was the highlight of our stay in Marrakech and we would recommend this accomodation to all.

lovely ryad

I spent 4 days at the lovely ryad "Le clos des arts" at Marrakech(Morrocco). Located near Pace Jamaa el Fna, this typical moroccan ancient house has an art gllery and a swimming pool on the roof. Madam and Mister Clos were incredibly nice with me. They speak english, french, italian etc... What I really appreciatein that ryad is its size which is very convivial

Hidden jewel

Excellent small riad! We spent four nights here: the location, only about 5 minutes walk from the main square, Jemaa al Fna, is perfect and it is a small oasis of peace after a hectic day sightseeing and wandering around the souk. The French couple who own it, Jean-Pierre and Edith, are extremely friendly and relaxed, nothing was ever a problem and they really let you do what you want. The riad is filled with art and is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The pool on the roof is also a blessing after a heavy day touring. We had one of the smaller rooms - fine, but next time would definitely take a larger room. We also ate at the riad one night, food was great and perfectly prepared.

Wonderful hospitality

We stayed at this Riad for four nights in October after reading good things about it on this website. It was exactly what we wanted within the Medina - the rooms are beautifully furnished and the building very well situated for all the main sights in Marrakech. We chose this Riad mainly because of the pool on the roof, not huge, but perfect for cooling down in after a long day on our feet. Jean-Pierre and Edith were wonderful hosts and even invited us to look around their quirky and individual home - the converted Hammam of the Palace de Bahia. We were travelling with our 8 month old daughter and this riad works well with small children as long as they are fairly well behaved (noise echoes around the central courtyard!) We didn't eat here in the evenings, as the Jemaa el Fna is only a few minutes walk away it's too tempting to go out every night.

Only wonderful things to say !

Like many people I spent an incredible amount of time trying to decide on a riad. The choice is overwhelming ! Finally I booked at the Riad Clos des Arts after many hesitations but I didn't regret my decision one second. First, this riad is incredibly well located, just by the Palais Bahia and very close to the main square. They sent a taxi at the airport for a very reasonable price, the service was perfect, the riad very clean and quiet, the rooms lovely, the rooftop splash pool a godsend, the "berbere" tent romantic and diner very enjoyable. We even had an easy and free access to internet. We loved Marrakech and its people, felt safe at all time and strongly recommend this destination and this riad. Enjoy !

Fabulous find in Marrakech

from katrionaf
This 6 bedroom riad, tucked down a small side street in the heart of the Medina was a fabulous find. It is based only 4 minutes walk from the place Jemma de Fna so walking distance to all the areas that you would want to visit in Marrakech. The rooms are stunning, (we stayed in the Turquoise suite) each authentically Moroccan with a luxurious feel to them: four poster beds with drapes and open showers. The riad has a plunge pool on the roof terrace which we found incredibly useful after a hot day discovering the city. Breakfast was great, Morrocan pastries and fresh orange juice, served whenever you wish to emerge from your room. This was taken on the terrace making the most of the early morning sun. Jean-Pierre, the owner of the Riad and his wife and small team of staff were incredibly welcoming and did everything they could to ensure that our stay was as romantic and magical as we had planned. They even ensure that you are met at the airport (and returned) to save you from having to haggle with taxi drivers! I would stay here again, without a doubt!

We have privitazed the Riad "Le Clos des Arts" with friends for New Year and stayed there 9 days.
It's a small Riad of 7 rooms in the city center at 4 minutes by foot from the main Square.
Very quiet, very clean and with fantastic personnel that try their best to serve you. Fantastic "home" maroccan meals.
The French owner Jean-Pierre and Edith are doing their upmost to serve all the guests.
Highly recommended!
