Historical Traveller Reviews of Riad Hayati Hotel

First Class all the way

from GhadaB
First Class

We have stayed at Riad Hayati several times on our visits to Marrakech. Simply put, it is first class in every way; A magical blend of Old Arabia with wonderful modern comforts and the best service we have ever had anywhere. This is the “riad experience” at its best.

t regret booking this place.

from princesscat
You’ll never know how great this place is until you’ve been. We really didn’t know where to stay as there seem to be so many options. I spotted Riad Hayati on tripadvisor and hoped that I could rely on the great reviews.

Marrakech is a fun and lively city, which is great for a while. What you need at other times is Hayati, a beautiful relaxing riad with the most amazing attentive service and importantly, enough space to really class as your home. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to meet the owner but I must praise him on his attention to detail. I presume that he has visited enough 5 star hotels to really know what a guest wants. The room was beautiful with a fantastic bath and lovely toiletries. We also had an open fire and a four poster bed. The rest of the riad was just as good with a roof terrace that provides the perfect spot to bath in the sun or relax with a bottle of wine while the sun is setting. We were also able to use other rooms at the riad such as the dining room, study and a little seated area off the courtyard.

The location couldn’t be better as you can walk to everything. It is an easy 5 – 10 minute walk to the main square (Jemaa el Fna) and right round the back of the Bahia Palace. There are also two great restaurants with bars round the corner (Le Tanjia and Kosybar), which I can highly recommend. I also want to say that it felt extremely safe on the streets. I would have been happy walking around on my own if my husband hadn’t been with me. The riad is also very safe and I had no problem leaving my valuables out.

The staff are all from one family and wonderful. Abdel Hak is the house man and picked us up from the airport. He magically appeared each time we needed anything and most of the time knew what we wanted before we’d even asked. His sister, Mina is the most fantastic cook and can even cater for vegetarians. Mina’s daughter helps out too.

To sum it up, I cannot recommend the Riad Hayati enough and my parents booked a few days after we returned.

An authentic highlight of our recent honeymoon

from Doc-Ed
Dare I say that this was a highlight of our recent honeymoon in Morocco? Hayati ranks highly on Tripadvisor, and the comments described exactly what we were seeking. The Riad was every bit as lovely as we anticipated: The room was sumptuous. The bathroom was amazing. We took so many photos of our room, for goodness sake!! Just the right temperature, especially with the gentle ceiling fan. I could go on with the multitude of positives, but you know them...

The staff are gold dust. So calm, polite, gentle, caring, attentive. Quite simply the best in our entire trip. They are obviously treated well and with respect, as they are very committed to their "Monsieur Ron"!

The food was probably the best in Morocco. Mina cooked such wonderful chicken with lemon & olive that I did not dare order it again anywhere else on our trip! The variety was great, and we really appreciated being asked what we wanted!

We were most satisfied, and felt that the cost was reflected in the quality. We paid more to stay the final night at Riad Mabrouka, but it was not even half as good value.

We really felt as though we were welcomed guests in a personal home. The owner, Ron, phoned to ensure our welcome and comfort, and all his communications by email were efficient and considerate, including his top tips on where to eat, to people watch, to shop, etc!

An absolute gem

from arnomov
Riad Hayati is a little treasure and was perfect for our chill out break. The location is fantastic being down a quiet side street but only minutes walk from the main square and inside and on the roof terrace it is totally tranquil with just the sound of the fountains and the twittering birds.

The Food was a superb fusion of Moroccan and French and the wine was excellent; the service also being first class.

The bedrooms were presented well and very comfortable and we loved the hamman style bathrooms in the bedrooms with the Penhaligon and Molton Brown toiletries.. absolute relaxation!

Our only regret was that we didn't stay for longer but we have already booked for a return in the spring.

Wonderful experience

from Alexander70
In november we stayed at this wonderful riad. We really loved it. The riad is stylish, intimate and quiet. The room was beautiful, with a gorgeous bathroom and excellent bed. The roof terrace is stunning, with nice views. An ideal place to relax after visiting the medina.

The service was a real joy. Abdel & Mina (brother & sister) really make you feel at home. They have a subtle touch and are very gentle. And owner Ron is a real gentleman.

This was by far our best traveling experience.

Small and perfectly formed!

from IanWC
I am loathe to write this review in case it gets too popular!

The riad is absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail is perfect, with the glowing lanterns, babbling fountain (with obligatory rose petals), and fantastic roof terrace. A truly magical place.

Abdel and his sister were quite simply outstanding. Better service than I have ever received from anywhere. They genuinely made you feel at home and part of the family. The cooking was also brilliant. Just simple Moroccan dishes cooked well... much better (and cheaper) than the poncy haut french/morrocan that you get elsewhere.

The bedrooms were small but perfectly formed. Our room had a big shower and the Molton Brown products were another nice touch.

The only negative I can think of to offset the wealth of platitudes is that the bed was a little hard... but the place is so peaceful I slept and slept and slept.

This is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review of a hotel. The service and attention to detail from Ron (the owner) and Abdel is exemplary making the Riad Hayati a very very special place to stay.

Fabulous!

from WorkingMum_7
The trip, helped by the staff, was effortless from start to finish. The accommodation blends the luxury and service of a hotel with the simplicity of a family home. The most relaxing break I have ever had! Highly recommended.

A quiet Oasis

from maissieBournemouth
This was my first trip to Marrakech and was concerned that the reality would not live up to my high expectations. Both the City and the Riad surpassed dreams. A member of the Hayati staff met me at the airport. The taxi dropped us off in a nearby square and I was escorted the last couple hundred metres by foot, down narrow allay ways until we stopped outside an innocuous large wooden door. Nothing really prepared me for the quiet, sophisticated Moroccan decor of the Raid. My room really was charming, combining the traditional with modern twists and an ultra comfortable bed. The staff was exceptional, hospitable and helpful. However it does help to speak French. Nothing was too much trouble and as other visitors have written, the food was delicious. So much so that none of the restaurants we sampled during our 6-night stay matched up to our 'home cooking'. We quickly established a tradition of sipping our cocktails at dusk on the roof terrace that over looks the old city, lounging on the arabic style sofas, feeling tranquil after the hurly-burly of the souks and at peace with the world.

I can't wait to go back.

The Excellant Hayati

from DHLondoner
The Hayati is a stylish Riad in the heart of Marrakech. Its location,on a short stroll from the main square, makes getting around and viewing the sights really easy.
The Riad staff are very friendly and serve some of the best food and wine to be found in Morocco, at reasonale prices. They can also arrange for guides, day trips, restaurant bookings etc.
The roof terrace offers great views of the City and makes an ideal place for sunbathing. With the recent addition of a plunge pool this is very enjoyable.
In winter the Riad is warmed by real fires which make for cosy evenings.
Highly recommended.

little jewel of elegant simplicity

from mimosaLondon
This was our third visit to Riad Hayati. It’s a little jewel of elegant simplicity.

Ron is the most thoughtful host. From the moment you make your booking he send you his candid views on restaurants and the “musts” of Marrakech. When you leave he sends you a brief evaluation note to know how you enjoyed the visit and what could be improved upon.

The staff is unflappable in efficiency and charm. Mina, the cook, always remembers our favorite dishes. Her lemon tart is the best we’ve had anywhere. The unlimited refreshments during the day and evening aperitifs are all complimentary.

The location is perfect. Near everything, but in a tranquil cul- de- sac next to the Bahia Palace.

It’s a perfect long weekend. Highly recommended.
