Historical Traveller Reviews of Riad Assakina Hotel

a haven of tranquility

from CherryHertfordshire
Searching for some sun during May we came across this newly refurbished Riad. What a find!!! It was beautifully decorated and tastefully refurbished. The suites are exquisite and furnished with great flair and sensitivity.
The owners Grant and Michelle went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect in every way as did the superbly commited staff.
The location was perfect - close enough to walk everywhere within the old city yet a haven of calm and tranquillity once back inside the Riad.
As well as the beautifully appointed rooms there were several areas for relaxation including a wonderful roof top terrace.
Having done quite a lot of travelling over the last year this was definitely one of our favourite highlights. Highly recommended!!!

t even contemplate staying anywhere else!

We have just returned from Marrakech. What a fabulous place! Particularly didn't want to leave the Riad Assakina - luxury personified.

This exquistively renovated riad is beyond any of your expectations. The communal areas (particularly the salon and the courtyard) are beautifully and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are stunning. We stayed in the Almohad Suite which was gorgeous. We particularly liked all the extra personal touchs - the fresh flowers, fresh fruit and chocolates.

The service of all the staff was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel like royalty!

We would heartily recommend it to anyone visiting Marrakech.

Amazing Assakina in magical Marrakech

from MaggieRafalowicz
We had an amazing holiday in Marrakech. A large part of the success of the holiday was down to our stay in Riad Assakina. Apart from it being well located, incredibly stylish and beautifully fitted out, the personal service from Michele, Grant and all their team was first class. Nothing was too much trouble - they helped arrange guides, tours, dining (the food in the Riad itself was really tasty), shopping, treatments, taxis and even recommendations for clubs for our older children. We spent quite a lot of time experiencing as much of Marrakech and the surrounding areas that we could and it was always a joy to come back to the warm and tranquil atmosphere at Assakina to relax, unwind and get ready for the next outing. We would highly recommend Riad Assakina to anyone who wants to enjoy their stay in Marrakech.

Luxurious living

from Bill_Heather
We have just returned from a marvellous 8 night stay at the Riad Assakina in Marrakech and we cannot praise the owners, Grant and Michele, high enough. Luxury and style are obvious as soon as you enter the riad and great attention to detail, for example fresh fruit and flowers in the room and complimentary mint tea and Morrocan pastries every afternoon, make this an ideal, peaceful retreat from the boundless energy of the Marrakech streets.
Nevertheless, the riad is well located for all the major attractions and nearby recommended restaurants were great. We also had dinner a couple of times in the riad and this was beautifully cooked and presented by Michele and her excellent staff.
Grant and Michele were always available to assist with any arrangements we wished. For example, we got them to book a local, English speaking guide and taxis - much better than attempting it ourselves.
After a hectic morning in the souks it was great to come back to the riad and relax on the sun terrace with a book whilst watching the storks flying by.
We had a truly memorable holiday in Riad Assakina, one of the best places we have ever stayed, and we can thoroughly recommend it.

Wow, what can I say, a beautiful Riad, just absolutely stunning, Michelle the owner, has created a fantastic place to stay. The Riad is stylishly contemporary yet still with its traditional roots, its an absolute haven from the buzz and excitement of Marrakech, and a wondrous place to relax after a hard day touring the sights of an amazing city.

Throughout our stay Michelle was just wonderful, extremely friendly and with nothing to much trouble, this in itself is worth the stay at Riad Assikina.

Riad Assikina is only a few minutes from the Souks and Djemaa el Fna, so is in the perfect position for accessing all the best places of Marrakech. If your looking for the best place to stay in Marrakech then I cannot recommend this Riad highly enough.

A perfect choice

from Marielle77
We feel so lucky to have made such a fantastic choice as the range of riads on trip advisor seems overwhelming; they all seem to say the same thing! However, trust me, you really don’t need to look any further.

Riad Assakina is simply stunning. Michele, the owner, has a background in interior design and it shows! The style is contemporary Moroccan elegance and it all feels very sumptuous and luxurious. The photos on the website are very accurate-it really is that beautiful! There is real attention to detail and because the riad is so new everything is still in prime condition. The two pools are more ornamental than practical but they definitely add to the general calm and tranquil ambience. We loved the luxury of our room and bathroom and especially loved the romance of the roof terrace at night.

We also liked the location; there were small souks and cool restaurants a very short walk away and the 10 minute walk to the main square was down interesting side streets with a range of shops and stalls to distract you.

On top of all of this the service we received was fantastic. We arrived over-heated and bedraggled from a disastrous cycling tour yet Michele greeted us like friends and even insisted on helping us to carry our dusty rucksacks down the street. Unfortunately my partner had caught a nasty stomach bug during the tour so we spent more time at the riad than we would have done otherwise. Yet nothing was too much trouble for Michele and her staff who prepared us special food, took me to the pharmacy and provided other remedies to try and help him recover! We really did feel so well looked after and as if they all genuinely cared about our well-being.

So for all these reasons we would highly recommend Riad Assakina. We did our research before we went and feel that relative to other top riads this one provides great value for money. I’m sure that’s because it is new but no doubt prices will soon go up once word gets out about how brilliant this place is…get in quick!

honeymoon heaven

from Deasios
We chose Riad Assakina because it looked close enough to the main square on the map and because the riad itself looked lovely on the website. We had good communication by email with the riad prior to our arrival, and had high hopes. We were not disappointed.
Riad Assakina is every bit as beautiful as it looks online. It is clean, spacious, quiet and lots of attention to details just make it that extra special. There is an information booklet in the room with not just riad info but also tips on using the taxi's etc, sunhats and jellabahs to borrow, daily fresh fruit, complimentary afternoon tea with sweets, free internet access....etc. The rooms have a/c, TV, hairdryer.
It is in a good location for walking to the square, the souks and a selection of great cafes and restaurants, it is really near the Bahia Palace. We were met at the airport no problem and welcomed warmly to the Riad with refreshments. On our first morning Michele the owner even walked us into the square and souks to help orientate us, which we really appreciated.
We ate in one evening and it was one of the best meals we had - I recommend the fig starter and lamb tagine - mmm.
Michele and the staff were always polite, friendly and eager to help with anything from giving us medicine for an upset stomach, to helping us arrange a desert trip. The clocks had changed and Michele was even double checking people's flight times.
We had a great time here, we would stay in Riad Assakina again if we went back to Marrakech, and would recommend staying here to family and friends.

Stunning Riad Assakina

from CheshireMax
We stayed at Riad Assakina for a week in June and thought the place was fantastic. Great position: within an easy walk of the Main square, souks and all the palaces, as well as some fab bars & restaurants. But the Riad's own food was truly excellent - and the drinks reasonable too - so sometimes we just ate in on that spectacular terrace. Very romantic! Rooms were clean, large and oh so beautiful. Communal areas spacious and stunningly decorated too. Staff were amazing and really helped us make the most of our stay (recommendations, guided tours, day trips etc). Overall, a real "find" and also great value for money, given the level of luxury and service which they offer. Thoroughly recommended and we'll definitely be going back!

ve got to stay at Riad Assakina

from DecKent
We stayed here for three nights in June on our first visit to Marrakesh and I can only say it was superb. You are within walking distance of the main sites and on our first day Michele took us the the square herself so that we could get our bearings.

Our suite was wonderful, contempory but still retaining a Moroccan feel. the staff were particularly courteous and we truly were made to feel welcome. The attention to detail was excellent in all areas and the breakfasts were particularly good with a different freshly prepared fruit juice each day.

This is my first time to review a hotel for Trip Advisor but it had to be done because i can't think of a negative thing to say about Riad Assakina. We will definetely go back.

t fault it.

from Carole75
A friend and I stayed here for four nights and had a totally fabulous time - we really couldn't fault it. The Riad was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with fantastic attention to detail. All the furnishings were locally sourced and made by craftsmen, but the very comfortable beds are British.

Our host, Michelle, was perfect and went way beyond helpful. She didn't just tell us the best places to go; she took us to them. The staff at the Riad were all very helpful too.

The Riad is in an excellent location, very central and within easy walking distance of the sights. The inclusive breakfast was sumptuous - a huge selection, including freshly squeezed melon and peach juices, cooked breakfast, local pastries and more. Evening meals can be provided if desired.

Lovely touches included afternoon tea and cakes, and fresh fruit in our room.
