Historical Traveller Reviews of Maison MK Hotel

What to say....

My first visit to Marrakech and it certainly wont be my last. The rooms were absoultely beautiful - simple but stylish with everything you could need for a comfortable stay, with some sexy extra touches you would normally expect from a London boutique hotel. Fantastic products, chocolates, nuts and the fluffiest bathrobes i have ever had, i wanted tot ake the place, and the staff home with me. Pauline and Jallel were faultless in their balance of professionalism and friendship, and the rest of the staff were adoreable. Would say great hideaway for couples in fab location. Breakfast was wonderful (oh the scrambled eggs!) and...okay enough, im going on now...dreaming of my return...

A luxurious godsend

from dollyrocker
This Riad is fab, it's pretty expensive, but when you arrive the staff are so friendly and helpful, the managers Jallel and Pauline are perfect, tell you all the best places to go in the city, make your reservations, book taxis et al. They're really good fun and great company, not just great hoteliers! We styaed in the big suite which was fabulous, we did pay for it though. A slight disappointment that they were still putting the finishing touches on, but the personal service, peace and quiet and beautiful design made up for it. This was a lovely, urban retreat in a crazy city, run by great people who have customer service down to a tee!

Absolutely lovely

We had a hugely enjoyable long Easter stay at Maison MK. The staff were simply wonderful and couldn't do enough for us. A lovely and very relaxed time was had by both myself and hubby. Jallel especially was brilliant and recommended some fun places for us to visit as well as procurring eye drops from the chemist for my dry eyes! Special mention to Fouwzi who picked us up from the airport, Simon and Emil who went the extra mile and downloaded all 3 of Man Uniteds fab goals for me to watch on the laptop :-)

The masseuse was also fantastic.

I was impressed by thoughtful touches of in-room mobile phones and ipods - the mobiles were especially useful if one got lost in the souks! Many a restful afternoon was spent on the lovely 2 tier terrace with great views of the Medina sipping rose and catching some rays!

Simply lovely riad and the staff are a real credit to the establishment. Hope to be back very soon.

Perfect in every way!

We're still feeling the glow from our fabulous stay at Maison MK, so I wanted to write a review before the grey of London seeped back into my soul!

Having already stayed in a couple of riads in Marrakech, we wanted to try something fresh and modern, and Maison MK firmly ticks those boxes. It's a fantastic riad with curvy, almost futuristic decor (especially the lighting) mixed with classic Moroccan touches. You'll be stealing design ideas for your own home, along with the toiletries.

It's fully five star with an ipod and mobile phone in each room, sexy pool, cinema room (popcorn offered!), and Miami-style huge sun-loungers on the massive terrace. We spent four days doing very little apart from sunbathing, eating (great breakfast and superb lunch) and shopping in the two top boutiques round the corner (Kulchi and Kif Kif). The atmosphere of the riad owes much to the relaxed but tip-top service. The manager and the other staff are warm and welcoming - you won't need to lift a finger, but the riad quickly starts to feel like your own home (albeit a posh, interior-designed, better version).

We had a fantastic holiday, and I couldn't recommend Maison MK more. It's worth the slightly higher room rate for a truly memorable experience. You won't want to leave....we nearly didn't.

Stunning Riad

from CBBrighton
We stayed at Maison MK for a week over Easter as some of their first guests. The service was excellent - we were picked up from the Airport (arrived quite late) taken to the Riad to find a home-cooked Monkfish Tagine (the manager Jallel is a trained chef and used to run a restaurant in Edinburgh) and Moroccan rose wine.

They organised a trip to the Atlas mountains for us and since we didn't bring enough warm clothes, the manager lend us some of his own warm coats)

The place is extremely stylish and thought through to the last detail (mobile phone in the room with the manager' number programmed, in case you get lost in the souks, IPod + docking station). We looked at quite a few other Riads and hotels in Marrakech and thought Maison MK had the edge on all of them in terms of design, quality and dedicated staff.

All in all highly recommended.

Combining the most stylish ambience with a warm homely feel - perfect!

Just a minute from one of the main gates into the Medina, Maison MK is in the perfect location to explore Marrakech.

From the moment you step through the beautiful wooden door, it's a feast for the senses: with calming aromatic candles burning; sumptuous Morrocan-spiced coloured fabrics; curved walls with a smooth waxy finish and the gentle chill-out sounds to take you instantly to a calmer place.

Every detail has been catered for to ensure your stay in Maison MK and Marrakech will be an experience to enjoy from start to finish. Mobile phones are provided for each guest, loaded with all numbers of the the staff, plus really useful numbers to make you feel safe wherever you end up eg taxki, hospital, police etc.

Jallel and Pauline (the managers) know all the best places to eat and enjoy the entertainment Marrakech has to offer and they were more than happy to make all the arrangements.

The breakfast on the terrace must be the best in the whole city. You sit on gorgeous velvet covered sofas, looking out across the medina to the Atlas mountains with a delicious breakfast of croissants, Morrocan pastries, eggs, coffee, the best orange juice I've ever tasted and the most amazing yogurt.

The suite we stayed in was so beautiful with a spa-like bathroom, more sumptous sofas and a huge bed with crisp white sheets. Another special touch was the ipod loaded with Maison MKs selection of cool and peaceful tunes!

We also enjoyed the massage offered by the house therapist who really had such a graceful touch that you could not fail to feel totally relaxed after your massage. Just what's needed after a busy day shopping in the hussley-bussely souks!

I think you'd be hard pushed to find a better riad in the whole of Marrakech - Maison MK is just perfect!!!

Not to be missed

from VonnieA
Maison MK is the only place to stay in Marrakech. It is a beautiful, special place and we were privileged to be the first guests in this oasis in the middle of the Medina. The owners have lavished every care and attention on all the details that matter when you are away from home. It looks like it has been a labour of love and from our point of view it was well worth it in every way.

The staff were great – Pauline was especially helpful as were the waiters. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were happy to stop and chat without ever being intrusive.

The terrace! Wow, what can I say about the terrace? We wanted to live up there. Actually I think we did. We spent most of our time hanging out up there lounging on luxurious beds, soaking up the sun and indulging in the odd drink.

And then the rooms. They are stunning. Every detail has been thought of which was just perfect because it felt like such a treat being there. Everything was perfect from the curtain fabrics to the cushions to the wall hangings behind the beds to the lighting even the hairdryers! We loved all the little touches that show how much thought has gone into it – the ipod, phone etc… Need I go on?

What a treat. We did not know what to expect after our flight and short taxi ride to the outskirts of the Medina, followed by a short walk through dusty alleyways, to the front door of Maison MK. Then Wow, the imediate impact of a luxurious and peaceful contemporary environment.
Very friendly staff all spoke english well. Lovely fresh flowers co ordinating with the blast of well thought through colour and beautiful design. Curves and softness and vibrancy, everything you would hope for in Marrekech.
The bed was the most comfortable I'd slept in. I actually loved the open plan space from the bedroom into the en suite, fabulous decor. We even had an ipod in our room to play our own or the riads selection of music. The roof terrace is sophistication personified, with what must be the best view over the Medina and beyond to the Atlas mounains.
Good breakfast and the best coffee!! We'll be back soon.

Have a Magical time in Marrakesh at Maison MK

from CLJ_London
Perfectly located near Bab Laksour in the Medina, just minutes from the main square, Maison MK is a tranquil and beauty riad. The design is beautiful, with cool smooth organic curves offset by chic splashes of warm and vibrant colour. The stunning roof terraces offer views of the Atlas Mountains, as well as the rooftops and minarets of the Medina. Friendly staff cater to your every need and serve delicious breakfasts, and any drinks and meals you require, on the roof terrace or in the restaurant downstairs. Paradise!

What can I say about maison MK?

from sophieanderson
The riad has a curved theme throughout it, from baths sunken into a lozenge of natural plaster, to rounded off corners on nearly every wall!! Beautiful strip lighting highlights the curves, softening them even more.
The little bathroom accessories are beautiful enough for you to want to put them in your bag and hope that no one notices they are missing...the same goes for the incredibly comfy beds, silky linen and fluffy towels...although I think they would notice you carrying the matress down the street!
A great plus is that every room comes with it's own iPod which has just the sort of music you would expect from a design hotel...
Another great little extra is the mobile phone they give you...who would have thought you would need one...but it came handy when we got lost and had to call Jallel the manager to come to our rescue!
It makes a difference having a really friendly manager who will answer all of your questions and direct you to the best restaurants and bars and more importantly come to rescue damsels in distress!
The riad is a perfect place to stay to absorb the colourful chaos of the medina and then retreat to the mk quarters for rest and relaxation.
