Top Local Tips for Marrakech
Buying stuff in the Souk Know your prices for carpets before you sit down in a carpet shop - read the guides. If you are tempted to buy a carpet, take your time and go to one of the 'Grand Magazins' where prices are listed on the carpets. Then if you have seen one in the souk that still catches your eye go back. Stand your ground, write down the price you are willing to pay and walk away, they will accept if you have made a reasonable offer. If they think they can squeeze you for more money, mainly because you dither about deciding then they will try. A;so, unless he says you have insulted his family with your first offer, you are starting out too high. Haggling can be fun, but know your prices and it will be rewarding as well.
High Atlas mountains Take a trip into the high Atlas/ Ourika Valley- the scenery is stunning we went in March and there was still snow on the highest peaks- we has a good guide who was Berber himself so great insight into Berber culture and village life which is only slowly changing in many of the remote villages. Only about 60-90 mins from Marrakesh and well worth a day trip.

The hotel is totally worn out!
starting with the room: very very dirty (the bed sheets didn't got changed in 8 days! The warm water had a brown colour, the room had many other guests besides us 2 namely ants, flies, grasshoppers, beetle, a cockroach, ..., the wood of the door and windows was completely rotten!!!, The bathtub was painted and the paint itself was already going away...
It was not only our room that was in this condition because we heard many other guests complain and change the room!
the restaurant was the worst one ever: There were many small birds flying inside the restaurant and you can imagine the result: they ate of the food (from the baskets and the tables), there was bird poop everywhere, they had even build nests inside the big lamp on the wall!!! there were signs of water dammage (fungus)
the food itself was also terrible: everyday cabbage, ok maybe we are not fond of marrocan food but that was really really not good (we survived the 10 days on pasta and French fries), everyday was almost the same to eat no variation, the day after were the recycled leftovers from the day before :-(
They also had late breakfast (from 10-12) but that were also the leftovers from the normal breakfast - if you were lucky you would have a croissant!
There were little flies in the wine- and water tank - the soda machine leaked
the bar had a limited choice of cheap local drinks and warm soda's (they didn't but the bottles in the fridge) if you wanted something cold you had to pay!!!
the snacks in the afternoon were a laugh: 1/4 of a pancake, a small piece of french bread with tuna or chicken and again warm drinks!!!
and if you are brain dead and like to be treated as a kid the animation is top from morning to evening!!!
1 thing must be said: the staff did there best and was very friendly.
