Top Local Tips for Agadir

User Friendly Agadir is a very user friendly sort of destination in spite of it being in North Africa. Rebuilt after the earthquake of 1960 with tourism in mind. Very easy to navigate on foot unless one intends to go into surrounding suburbs such as Talborjt where one may get lost. There are many attractions to see in and arround Agadir at reasonable rates. Getting around in the Petit taxis is very inexpensive. Speaking some French will go a long way and a few Arabic phrases will help to make new friends, as will regular tipping of small amounts. No problem with currency as there is no shortgae of ATM's. Very good restaurants along Boulevard du 20 Aout and some small local places serving good and inexpensive dishes, vegetarians also catered for. Great for shopping particularly if used to haggling.

Alot of guides are not approved so be aware. Just keep your wits about you. I don't think the guy who lead me around the harbour was approved but I thought he was great & well worth the £10 I had in my wallet. Decide an amount & stick by it. A ten pound note was the smallest I had but he still said a 20 would be better! Still a good experiance & glad I did it.
