Top Local Tips for Nairobi

Avoid City Market Not worth the hassel. Very aggresive sellers. One shopkeeper even grabbed the wife of my friend and he had to step in. Best to avoid all such places. Prices are not that much cheaper anyway as you will have to haggle. Some of the Indian shop keepers were very much passive and seem to have adopted a different tactic. They price all their goods but do not negotiate. However, they just let you browse freely with little hassel. A very good shop is called Aquarium Ltd. The guy even said if you find it cheaper elsewhere i'll give you your money back. (another sales technique?) although he even threw in a free gift.

Watchout There is hardly any public transport system in place. rely on cabs. better take the cab service provided by hotel rather than the road side guys.Stay in after evenings. Crime rate is high. If necessary take a cab, do not walk.
