Karen Blixens Houses If you have the time it is well worth a trip our to Karen Blixen's house which is outstandingly beautiful set in wonderful l grounds. Try and get someone to show you her old coffee machine behind some bushes - which should be on show.

Learn a little Swahili Your interest in the locals and their language will take you far in East Africa, even with Government officials. Give it a go.

Don't stay downtown Nairobi You will regret doing so. It's dangereous and ill advised. The exception is the Serena, if you don't go off the hotel property. Avoid the Hilton at all costs.
