Nice hotel, friendly staff, slows service. A few times I had to walk to the bar to be served. The rooms are more than ok. So about the hotel I have not so much to say but the location and with that the hotel is boring. I mean B-O-R-I-N-G. It’s located between several main roads with huge traffic jams and there is nothing to see. If you want to risk your life you can pass more than one motorway to go to a shopping mall. No bars, no night life. But...you are the neighbour of the president of Ghana!!

Actually writing this from my room here at the African Regent in Accra. The lobby greets you with lovely contemporary African art, and a nice bar and lounge area. However, the staff doesn't live up to expectations right from the bat. Over 20 minutes just to check in on existing reservations, and this after having to wait several minutes while the lone desk clerk helped an irate customer and ignored another completely.

The rooms are spacious and clean, with nice high ceilings and more of the contemporary African furniture. They feature decent sized baths and good, working air conditioning. However, the curtains can't truly be called "blackout" style, as they are not hung correctly to block out the light for day sleeping. In addition, construction at the pool area and traffic on the adjacent main road generate too much noise even for sleeping in after a late night flight.

The staff is slow to respond to even the most basic requests, though they're friendly while taking their time. The building is new, and is a nice pleasing place to stay for the most part, in spite of a lack of 4-star service.
