Definately not a 4 star!

Do not go to this hotel if you are expecting a 4 star service. The food in the main restaurant is luke warm and the choice is limited and repetative. There is no waiter service of any description, you have to find your own table and request cutlery. We were even told to move tables and had to join a couple halfway through their meal. You have to queue at the bar in the restaurant for your drinks but water is not available, neither is ice. Drinks are served in any glass the bar tender has to hand - beer in wine glasses, wine in shot glasses, G&T in small plastic cups. Dirty crockery and cutlery was not cleared from tables between courses and often lingered on tables way after people had left.Because of this there is a lack of clean plates and cutlery - we were even given plastic cutlery at one point. The bar area is tiny and again you have to queue for everything. Unless you are not English, then you can just go straight to the front of the queue and demand service. Again, ice is not available and drinks are served in inappropriate glasses. We have travelled to many 4 star resorts around the world but this is by far the worst. Avoid it at all costs!

Hotel very clean, located too far from other restaurants, the hotel food in the main restaurant was in my opinion poor quality, not disgusting food but boring, tasteless and far too salty. The drinks were also served in silly sized glasses, Who has ever had lager served in a wine glass at a hotel??? The so called entertainment was also terrible, endless renditions of " i am the music man" and some dire german kiddies tune, makes for mental torture not entertainment. The chinese restaurant was also poor but the worse bit was going into the italian restaurant one night and seeing only 2 out of 30 tables occupied we were told they were very busy and have we booked? We thought he was joking until we were turned away.

Just got back yesterday this is a new hotel only open about 8 months it is in a good location and attractions/shops are currently being added to the area. Shuttle buses are readily available to go to Naama bay and old Sharm.

On arrival we were escorted to our room shown every little detail before being left we then went down to dinner an open air buffet that night it was chaotic lots of people lots of queueing but the food excellent. It did leave the OH my god thought mealtimes are going to be a nightmare but we were wrong.

The food was excellent lots of choice it was hot and lots of it cooked to order. (This was contrary to what I had expected of Egypt having heard so many reports of dodgy tummies etc. This was absolutely not the case!)

The staff very friendly all did their very best to be helpful even if language was a bit of a barrier most of the staff spoke enough of 4 or 5 languages to get by.

Rooms were cleaned daily as was everything else.

Only real confusion was getting used to the money be warned out and about you are a easy target to fleece shopkeepers will cross the road to get to you but very friendly.

Entertainment within the hotel seems to be very much a work in progress as it is new hotel however there was a very high management presence thoughout the hotel paying attention to every little detail.

To start with, the location of the hotel was great, a new built area in Napq bay. The hotel has it's own private beach where it was, among other things, possible to rent wind surfing boards or kite surfing boards or jut relax. The pool area was big and clean and had two small water slides. The animation team held water aerobic classes here twice daily. There was also a pool bar and a lobby bar and at night they opened up a bar outside the lobby as well.

Just outside the hotel was a new built center called Sharm Star, with a restaurant, two cafes, one with a nice outdoor area with a stage in the middle that sometimes has performances in the evenings. I highly recommend to spend some time there, vacation does not get more relaxing than sitting there with a cup of tea watching the other tourists and the store keepers. There are also two offices selling excursion for reasonable prices. For more shopping just walk 10 minutes to the right of the hotel gates and there are more stores. The whole area is new, and more quiet then Neama Bay. To get to Neama bay the hotel has a free shuttle service, and if you miss the shuttle bus it is easy to get to Neama bay by using taxi or the mini buses.

The food in the main restaurant was good and plentiful, and staff was extremely friendly. There were also a Chinese and an Italian restaurant that were good, just don't eat here if you are in a hurry. Even if you have the all inclusive package, if you leave the hotel and just walk across the street to Sharm Star, where you can find a nice restaurant serving great Egyptian food for reasonable prizes. I highly recommend this as an alternative, at least for one meal...

The hotel was over all very nice, the staff was amazing, everyone working in the reception, the guys in the bars and the restaurants, and the guys working by the pool were always joking and smiling as well as giving excellent service (hint: use the words thank you and please, since a lot of guests seems to not have heard about those). Also some guests complained about the cleaning of their rooms when we stayed there, so don't forget to hang out the "please make up my room" sign, some tip to the staff might also help, we had no problem with our room, it was spotless.

All-inclusive for one week for two in feb09. This hotel is a relatively new hotel and there are some teething problems, which might put you off at first impression, however within a day the good points far outweigh any of these.
The food is pretty predictable but in plentiful supply and there is always something on the menu. Some comments say it doesn't cater for the English pallet, I don't know what they were expecting but there are chips, steak pie as well as a good mix of European and local Egyptian grub.
The local beer is very nice and the generous staff measures of spirits were isn’t to bad either.
The staff were fantastic, couldn't have been nicer, friendly or more helpful (with one or two exceptions - ironically the customer relation desk).
Location is right on the beach and a short taxi ride from nama bay (there are free shuttle bus services running twice daily from the hotel)
For the adventurous traveler this place is ideal, me and my partner went for 7days, a couple lazy days by the beach, one quad biking in the desert, one day trip to cairo (this is fantastic!!!), one day on a snorkeling boat trip in the national park area and one day exploring nama bay and the old markets.
....each day finished off with a decent meal and good wine and beer at the hotel.
.....the entertainment wasn't up to much but hey your on holiday, make you r own entertainment, chat with other guests be sociable!!!!!!!

I'd go back!

Good points far outweigh the bad

This is a fairly new hotel and, as such, is still experiencing teething problems. We were fully inclusive and when the hotel is full the buffet restaurant cannot cope. The hotel itself lays quite a distance back from the main road and it is a long walk from the hotel to the shops. Also there are no toilet facilities or windbreakers on the beach,

Having said that, we had a brilliant holiday. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are well furnished and spotless. Our room had a balcony and was overlooking the sea and swimming pool and was the best hotel room we have ever stayed in!!

We would book again but would avoid the last week in January as it is half-term in Egypt and the hotel offers a 4-day break to local families which puts enormous pressure on the hotel facilities.

For me the essence of a good holiday is food and drink. sadly the hotel failed in both these departments. although the food was plentiful and the standard of hygiene great it was generally bland and also most of the time only warm. the alcoholic drinks available were local beer, excellent, local wine, so so, and local spirits, ok. if the spirits were available in cocktails they would be great however this facility was not available and also due to there never being any ice available most of the mixer drinks were lukewarm.

Great Pool and Weather

Just got back from the Tropicana Sea Beach yesterday, we too were supposed to be staying at the New Tower hotel, but were informed before we travelled that we have been moved because of 'operational reasons'.

The best part of this hotel is definately the pool, it is massive and never felt crowded. There is also a couple of water slides which are good fun! There was always a sun bed available without having to get up stupidly early! Also there were always plenty available on the beach. The sand on the beach is like builders sand, not like it looks on the pictures! My boyfriend cut his knee very badly by falling over playing beach football

We were disappointed when we first went in the sea as i thought you would be able to snorkel straight off the beach, however we discovered that if you walk out quite a way towards the ship wrecks (the sea is really shallow, you struggle to get over knee height) that there were plenty of fish to see.

The food definately wasn't the best! Every English person we met at the hotel (which was only a few - the place is dominated by Russians!) commented on it. It doesn't cater for English tastes, we didn't see a chip at the buffet all week! It serves exactly the same food for both lunch and dinner every day. However we ate at the Chinese (twice) and the Italian restaurants and these were both excellent! Lovely food! You get one free trip to each, then have to pay about £8 each to go again, but it is definatley worth it as a break form the buffet.

The rooms and general areas were clean. The staff were on the whole quite friendly. There is an amination team who get you to do things like water polo, but to be honest they only really seem interested in their Russian counterparts. There is not much in the way of entertainment for the English at night as it is mostly the amination team doing dances on the stage. However we didn't really mind as we enjoyed sitting by the pool and making the most of the AI drinks!!

There is some building work going on at the hotel, but i think if our room had been located in a different part of the hotel we probably wouldn't even have noticed.

my husband and I, plus our friends stayed at this hotel for 1 week 22-29 Sept. and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had actually booked into the Tropicana New Tower to be told on arrival that it was closing down and we were being upgraded to the Sea Beach. To be honest we were concerned but there was no reason to be. The room was lovely and clean, there was always hot water so we had no complaints!
We were AI so yes the food does get repetitive but I am a fussy eater and I never went hungry we do believe that on AI you have to still eat out 2/3 times a week or you will get bored but it is so cheap to eat out that you don't mind.
The staff were very friendly with our group and would often come over to us for a bit of banter and they do seem to like the English as they say we are "happy and nice" which after seeing the way some other tourists speak to the staff I can see why they say that about the English!
The lady in the foyer area was very helpful to us and we can't fault her at all (her name is Leila?) We mentioned to her about not being able to snorkel from the hotel beach and the next thing she had arranged for us to go to the sister hotel the Grand Azure by courtesy taxi with our drinks and snacks included if we wanted any, she also came with us to make sure we were ok and that the staff knew about us and helped us if we needed it!
There was some building work still going on but I can honestly say we didn't notice it they did seem to try to be discreet. The weather was great, quite hot and I think any earlier in the season would have been uncomfortable. Would we go back again.....Definately

when booking through my travel advertised as a new hotel opened in may/june tropicana sea gate. when we arrived nobody knew where tropicana sea gate was /thats because it dont exist.after our so called 8 min transfer that was an hr we finally arrive at sea beach/the building site .to be fare it did not really interfere with our holiday /the building work still going on /the new steps being put in the pool while you lay on your lounger and then watch them kick the rest off debri into the water,the fact that all rubbish has accumulated in the pool and nobody appears to know how to keep it clean,there pool cleaner is about a 10 ft brush with hose attached ,and yes 10ft got cleaned what about the rest of it?powder chlorine used and you could still see all the powder floating as you swam, then obviously as the pool was still filthy we watched as they had large drums off neat chlorine while people was in the dining room they just poured straight into pool coughing and spluttering as they did as it was burning there throat,food ok but repetative, lunch and dinner and visa versa, no facilitys for babys,no gym , no health club as advertised bulldozers up and down beach tip off left over building rubbish then flatten into sand,most staff cannot speak english a few are very nice and make the effort you never know what the entertainment is you have to guess as they dont speak english,this place should not be open untill they have health and safety do checks,rooms clean water same temp all round,diving great have to pay to use jetty next hotel up as its a bit of a trek from the beach to go snorkling,oh and it,s half hour on shuttle bus to naama bay for those who are given the impression it is only 10 min,and for those of you who have late flights check out is 12oclock and $40 past that, apparently thomson have advertised this hotel from november in there books,i did write a review on there site but they appear to have deleted it,wonder why,i would deffinatly give this place at least another yr before it is at full standard as advertised
