Wonderful Hotel
from hosdegbeautiful Red Sea views!
from JerriSThe staff were friendly, the restaurants very good, and we were able to walk the charming path to town, along the sea, in less then 10 minutes...
The beaches were delightful, the horizon bar sits by itself on top of a small hill overlooking the bay...a wonderful place for sunset and pictures.
The rooms have personality, but ARE old, and the bathrooms really do need help. But everything worked, and when it didn't (air conditioning in room), the friendly staff were there to fix it.
If you're looking for a terraced hotel, with balconies overlooking the bay, great snorkeling, and private beaches, then Sofitel is THE place to stay.
There ARE nicer hotels in town, but not with the personality and views of the Sea that the Sofitel offers.
Paradise-On-Land (thanks to animation team)
from Moly_CanadaThe quality of service was high. The rooms and all surrounding amenities were spotless. The staff was friendly. The view was fabulous. The garden people did a really good job. You can see the birds and pigeons accompaning all guests and enjoying the man-made paradise-on-land.
The best part that grownups as well as children loved was the "Animation Team". Their graceful attitude, energetic spirit, kindness with the children, creative show ideas, innovative games/activities all day long, dedication to the hotel reputation and sincerity in making everyone enjoy their time was the main factor that made Sofitel the best that we experienced in Sharm El-Sheikh.
Most hotels in Sharm El-Sheikh share the magnificent view, the superb service quality, the good food, but it was the activities/programs/welcoming attitude of the animation team that made the difference.
Thanks to all hotel staff and management in general and to the animation team in particular. We loved our stay!!

Lovely place
from nzbryantIt has soo much more space than the Naama Bay resorts - it has four little lovely beaches - which are pretty - and people are not packed into the beach like sardines. It also has a very lovely bar on the clifftop where you can watch the sunset. Excellent service all round.
Outstanding Indian restaurant on site - and three other decent restaurants.
The only 'downside' is the rooms are not as nice as at say the Hyatt, but they are still fine.
Wonderful hotel in a fabulous setting
from PollyCambridgeshireThe staff were wonderful and never at any time looked for tips. Would we go back - yes certainly and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. We have stayed in many so called 5 star hotels and would thoroughly give this one the top marks it deserves.

Zen in Sharm
from GeeLondonWe Loved this Place!!!
from divanumber1We loved their breakfast buffet and their Christmas Dinner package was outstanding. You feel safe and feel at home.
We were so fortunate to get this hotel - we feel this was the best place at Sharm and great value for the money. We definitely will be back here again.
Best Trip
from jaiiijoomLoved it. Good value.
from forbes1Things to know before you book.........
from A TripAdvisor MemberStart with the Good Points:
The Beach or Beaches - There are 3, all private and for use exclusively by the hotel residents. Probably the best beaches in Naama Bay and cannot be faulted. Snorkeling very good here.
The Horizon Bar - Overlooking Naama Bay from its perch above the beach with spectacular views.
Staff / Service - Very friendly and helpful and not looking for tips or gratuites for basic service. Having said that we always tipped the waiters and the room service.
The Indian Restaurant - Fantastic setting on the terrace and with great food to match. Cannot be faulted well worth a visit you need to book in advance though, will not be dissapointed.
Setting - Overlooking Naama Bay with spectacular views of the mountains and the bay.
Architecture - The reception and the restaurants are all authentic Egyptian / Arabic style, very nice!
Security - Felt safe which was good more secure than the hotelsd along the promenade.
Average Points:
Food / Buffet - Again nothing wrong with it, plenty to go round and lots of choice but not worthy of a '5 star hotel'. Had better and had worse. If you eat outside beware of sparrow attacks!
Rooms - Nice size and pleasant enough, but very dated. Furniture done in Egyptian style but needs replacing, bathroom seen better days and would not make 4 stars. Disappointing.
Massage / Spa - Again ok cant fault it but Holmes Place it's not.
Let Downs:
Atmosphere - We were off season so the hotel was not full so that may have contributed to it.
Bars / Nightlife - Extremely disappointed with this. The reception bar is tiny, a piano but no one to play it. The Bedouin tent / bar type area is pretty naff
to be honest. The Horizon bar shuts early and the level of entertainment was poor. If you want to be in bed by 10pm without disturbance then fine but a nice place with some atmosphere for a few nightcaps would have been good.
Swimming Pool - One pool which is great to look at but is bloody freezing, imagine the serpentine on Xmas morning then add minus 10 to it!
Gym - Aerobic area is ok but the equipment is outdated and needs replacing. One running machine and one bike (the other was broken). Poor.
Games room - Oh dear. A billiard table with balls missing and ripped cloth and pool table with no cues and they have the front to charge £7 an hour for it!
Expectation - We got a good deal for our holiday but if we had paid the full price we would be been well unchuffed. This is not a 5 star hotel full stop, its a decent 4 star which needs upgrading. It has the potential but it will take a lot of work and the competition around is of a high standard.
Overall: If you get a good deal then you will enjoy, but dont pay too much. The Hyatt next door is a proper 5 star and the nightlife, bars, restaurants and pools are far superior to the Sofitel but doesnt have the ambience of a 'Arabic' hotel.
3.5 out of 5.
Top Local Tips for Sharm El Sheikh
The weather in the spring is fabulous Light outfits in the morning and a heavier jacket at night will do the trrick of the weather acquaintance.
Stomach bugs It's true you do get ill going to Egypt so I would recommend you clean your hands after touching the money (apparently this is one of the ways the germs are transferred) and take toilet roll to the airport as there is none there and you will have to pay the attendant for it.
When arriving Try and organise a shuttle to take you to the hotel. Dont just assume your hotel will organise this for you. We had a free shuttle to/from the hotel but we made the mistake of not informing the hotel when we were arriving. Unless of course you are with a tour or part of a package like thomas cook etc.
