2nd time roundfrom A TripAdvisor Member
We have just returned from the Sierra Hotel after having stayed there in August. I cannot rate this hotel enough, From the cleaning staff right through to management everyone is so friendly. The food is good, the pools are excellent if a little cold, but then it is now March. The entire place is spotless and nothing is too much trouble for them. The music at the main pool is repetetive but the spa pool is quiet and Alexander will see to your every need so you need not move from your sunbed!!
Naama Bay is not far away if you want night life but pre book the shuttle bus it is well worth a visit or two. We found the quad bikes fun Kirsty has been 3 times in all and has enjoyed it, no they are not up to English standards but Egypt is not England. All in all a super place to stay surrounded by polite and friendly people. We are returning for a third time as soon as possible. Hi Emma and Keith don't forget your visa for the boat trip!!!
Excellent Hotelfrom A TripAdvisor Member
If you give the waiters and pool attendants a few Egyptian Pounds they will look after you, you will not have to leave your lounger to get a drink.
The Weather was excellent 26C every day, a little cloudy on the last day.
One thing to watch out for, is if you go with Panarama from Bristol, is the possibility of switching from Air Atlanta to Air Malta. The plane is rubbish, uncomfortable, no TV's and very cramped. Panarama staff will not keep you informed and are useless.
However the Sierra Resort is an excellent Hotel to stay in and I would reccomend it to anyone.

Fantastic holiday ignore the bad reviewsfrom A TripAdvisor Member
The Food was fine, have read reviews that said it was repetitive but there is so much to choose from that you could have something different every time. I had three children with me and no complaints from any of them, the waiters are great and will do any thing they can to help.
The Beach is at the Savoy Hotel across the road, and you can get a free shuttle bus across which takes about two minutes, lots of water sports to do down there, and quite cheap to go o banana boat for 15 mins only 4.50 each, there is a bar down there as well and you can us your inclusive arm band down there for drinks.
Nama Bay is good for something a bit different you can have a bit of laugh with the locals, yes you get hassled a bit but you are in Egypt so this should be expected, if you are not interested just walk away, need to barter the price on most things. There are also some nice bars on the beach which are cheap.
The Airport is very busy and cramped but they are building another terminal so should get better but was not really that bad, there were people moaning b ut some will moan about anything.
All in all a very good holiday you will enjoy the hotel, dont take too much notice of some of the reviews on this site because it was great didnt meet anyone there who did notlike the hotel. If you are going have a great holiday im sure you will!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing that let hotel down for us was the food. It became very repeatative and all seemed to taste the same. Its ok if you're only going for a week. I'm not sure how you would go on if you were trying to feed small children as they didn't really cater for them. We took the free hotel bus into Naama Bay a couple of times and went to eat there and have a look round.
All in all I would say this is a great hotel, more like a four star hotel and if you go across to the Savoy you can see the difference. We would definately go back again later on this year or this time next year.
relaxing holidayfrom A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel was above my own expectations and would recommend to anyone.
The only problem we had all week was that the quad bike trip into the dessert was a disaster, would not recommend booking with the sales rep at the pool side of the hotel, the quads are of very poor quality and are not maintained, not a comfy ride over the dessert sands, but this was of no fault of the hotel.
I cant wait togo back and have already started to look at the prices for the end of the year

First got to sharm late on Christmas day, weather looked a bit cold and got worried that this was going to be a cold holiday as this was my first time to Egypt. I had no need to worry the weather was fantastic all week.
After a 5 hr flight from brum with Malta Air (which was a good flight nice and spacious but no telly) we arrived Sharm airport had no problems straight through. We got on to our bus first good laugh one passenger had forgot her mothers wheelchair!!!!! Humm. Transfer was 10 mins to the Sierra.
Hotel looked really grand and staff very helpful could not do enough for us to make sure we settled in fine. Our room was very pleasant, spacious and clean. Best of all the TV had a movie channel !!!!!!. we did not get to the hotel till 9.30 but still managed to get some dinner. The restraunt was big and both areas for non smoking and smoking. The choice of meals we thought were very good something different every day. Drinks did take a bit of time to come but there free what the hell!!!!!
The facilities at the hotel are great a massive swimming pool and a brand new in door pool and sauna opening (hence a bit of building work but not noticeable). There was a daily activity planner so the kids would not be board i.e. me!!! At my age!!!!! The animation team were all friendly and most could speak a bit of all languages. The pool bar staff we top notch. The misses never got of here posterior once to get a drink they get it for you!!!.
Night time entertainment was o.k. in the Bar area. Get there early to get a seat as the atmosphere there is good and the singer is not bad (unlike the bloke who complained she was miming.. what can I say…we sat next to this bloke and he could moan that a boiled egg was the wrong shape!!!!!!!).
For stuff to do throughout the day I’m a diver so I was sorted but there are loads of good trips, if you can go on the quad bikes. Don’t book with the rep but book with the bloke who has a desk at the pool. Best 20 quid I ever spent.
Over all you holiday is what you make it, the Sierra resort was brilliant value for money and could not help us enough. Cannot wait to go back !!! see you soon Louise ( our waiter)
Fantastic break awayfrom RobRex
We have to say we had a lovely holiday that gave us exactly what we hoped for, a break from life and lots of sun!We will not return to the Canaries after bring to Egypt. There were no clouds or rain for 2 wks!!
The locals are very friendly. Most staff spoke reasonable english, and even the ones that didn't were very charming and helpful.Having watched other guests, you got what you gave out.Our only bad experiences with people were with the other russian speaking guests (not all striclty from Russia, some Estonian). The only staff member that was exceptionally rude was an Estonian rep with a travel company run through the Savoy ( the sister hotel across the road). The Egyption reps and guides with this company were of the usual high standard.
Do not entertain the high prices of the english tour operators. If you shop around you can find other companies who will do you a better deal. We went to Ciaro for the day (with one hr flight each way) with an english speaking guide who went to uni to study history and arceology for £125 each.We were allowed to pretty much lay out what we did and for how long.
The rooms were spacious, clean and served our stay well. Reasonable channels on tv provided english speaking films, news,MTV and cartoons. There is air con and (unstocked) fridge. We heard some woman complain it was not stocked, but as is all inclusive we got drinks, water and fruit from the bar and put them in.
Some guests seemed unhappy with how remote the resort was from main Naama Bay, but this suited us fine, as we didn't go for nights out on the tiles and bright lights! There are regular buses in to Naama Bay from th hotel or reception will book a taxi for you.Don't pay more than 40 egyption pounds for this trip one way (£4).The taxi drivers will try to get you to pay 100 upwards! But just walk away unless they come down to 40, this is the official price they should charge.
We found Naama hideous and did not frequent it much!Although is good for a cheap meal, if your not too worried about drinking alcohol.(More pricey)
The food at the hotel is reasonable and a large range is available. The red wine is fine, didn' try the white, but some people did seem to enjoy it!Beer was fine, the cocktails and spirit drinks rather potent!
The down side of the restauraunt was the drinks taking ages to be brought to the table. We found Ahmed on the non smoking side of the restaurant to be the best and on the ball.In the evening there was fresh linen and wine glasses on the table,a lovely touch.
The Savoy is nice, but expensive, but a nice change if you want one.
We ended up sun bathing and reading in the mornings and enjoying the fantastic snorkelling in the afternoons.
All in all, a very good, relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Little Russiafrom A TripAdvisor Member
Food for the first week was cold and unappetizing but improved second week after many complaints.
This hotel is for the Russian's who swamp the place. Customer Relations team - Estonians very helpful.
Christmas Dinner - cold with attempts to heat area with garden heaters failed.
Entertainment rubbish in bar area only VERY LOUD disco which played same songs in same order each evening. We think the singer mimed and the music a karaoke computer tape as every note the same.
New Year Dinner a complete fiasco. We wanted to sit with friends but o no you must sit with your tour group - as we were the only people in our group we found it strange. Again music was repeat of every night routine eccept there were dancers. We are told there were dancers as the lights for the stage faced the audience and shined in our eyes. This time eight speakers and music too loud so you could not hold a conversation. Food was warm Lamb and Beef. Despite the organisation the table at the side of us 10 places was empty. Drinks were a nightmare. a bottle of Chilean wine £50.00 per bottle. Champaign £120.00.
We left at 11 as the noise from the disco was unbearable.
Hotel staff very helpful.
Trip to Cairo fantastic escorted every inch of way guide very knowledgable.
Flight with Thomas Cook a nightmare included 1 hour plus stopover at Gatwick which came as a complete surprise. No leg room and unable to pull down tray when horrible burnt cold meal served. On flight to Newcastle crew could only serve COLD WATER. Even Egyptair on their one hour flight had fruit juice and later tea/coffee.
Great winter sunfrom Stars
Good for moneyfrom Szuzi
The rooms were kept clean and acceptable, with often twice daily housekeeping. Outside the pools were great, with maintance being done after sun down and the gardens well looked after.
Security people were posted around the perimeter and tourist police at the entrance.
There is indeed building work being done to revamp this hotel, but it is not intrusive. The new spa is quite something to see.
Have to say we booked this hotel (accomodation only) thinking it was some thing different and when the misunderstanding was realised - went thinking we might have to change. Although not up to the standard of others, you have to be ready to accept what you pay for, and this was good money.
Our nightmares were the flights, but that is another story!
Top Local Tips for Sharm El Sheikh
at the airport, and at check in at the hotel ask for a room on the first floor,if only staying in sharm dont buy a visa at the airport. save yourself £13 pounds each
Staff Tip the staff. Little and often and don't be mean with it! They get paid a pittance, and a few quid goes a very very long way. Take lots of small notes (5, 10, 20 and 50 Egyptian Pounds), as these are reallu useful. Talk to the staff - they are really interesing.
Room upgrade Make sure you ask to see the room and ask about room sizes before you accept.
