This was our second visit, our last one being Easter 2009. It cost £2800 for both of us for the week. We will visit again, at Easter.
It will not be with Thompson however, because they were appalling.
Our holiday was December 27th to January 3rd. Not only was it our New Year Celebration but, as my wife had recently been given the 'all clear' from breast cancer it was a special celebration. We had packed all of our nicest party clothes, snorkelling equipment, jewellery: the works.
When we arrived at Sharm, we found that my wife's suitcase had not arrived. We spoke to all of the appropriate people at the airport, and spent time filling forms in. We were assured that the suitcase had not been put on the aeroplane and would arrive the following day. We spoke to Thomson's reps the following day and they also assured us that the suitcase would be delivered to the hotel.
We checked every day, sent emails to Thompson but all we got were meaningless assurances that our bag would be found and returned. We had four reps at our hotel and each one was equally useless. They appeared interested only in selling excursions to customers and showed no interest in our plight and no interest in assisting us. The first four days of our holiday when we asked them if there was any news of our missing suitcase they asked what our name was. We asked two reps where we might go to buy dresses, make-up, to get through the week and they even supplied incorrect information about how we could get a taxi from the hotel and the prices that we would have to pay for a taxi. They hadn't a clue. We were on our own.
My wife spent the week wearing what she had brought in her cabin baggage, washing clothes every night so that she had something to wear the following day and wearing my tee-shirts and shorts which ill suited her. Having no medicines inflamed a skin complaint the she had which we were hoping would be cleared up with help from the sunshine.
It is now February and they have stopped looking for the case. We have had no apology from Thompson. They say that they provided the holiday that we paid for.
We will go back to Reef Oasis Blue Bay. We have booked the hotel direct, we will fly with EasyJet and we will get a taxi to take us the 10-minute journey from the airport to the hotel. We will not holiday with Thompson again
