We chose this holiday so we could spend a relaxing Christmas in the sunshine and that is exactly what we did.

It was sunny and warm every day if a little cool in the evening when a light jacket was needed.

Only the hardiest guests went for a dip in the chilly main pool but the smaller pool down next to the beach was heated and very inviting. Sadly, it was most of the time full of children.

The staff are very friendly, the large gardens are beautiful and the rooms are clean.

We would recommend the all inclusive option as the drinks are very expensive. We had a very merry Christmas.

We stayed here in May of last year and would definitly go back again. Everything was spot on. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of Kirkade, our bags were brought to the room for us, we were then transported on a golf buggy type cart. The staff were so nice and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The grounds were beautiful and well tended. Our room was on the beach front and was well kept and clean. The pools were lovely and the staff at the Toucan bar really friendly and the spa pool was so relaxing. The food was a little hard to get used to but I'm sure any Egyptians coming here would find our food hard to get used to also!!We took a few trips which involved getting picked up at about 4am and even at that hour the security staff on the gate were friendly & chatty. After our trip there friends of ours actually went there and stay at the sister hotel. I would love to back there again and hopefully will do so before too long.

Just back from a week's holiday here. Very relaxing atmosphere - never have to fight for a sunbed and new beach towels are provided every day. Food excellent with plenty of choice and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Only downside is there isn't a lot of entertainment at night - and what they do have isn't up to much - but we were prepared for this and it certainly didn't spoil the holiday. Insect repellant is a must as the mossies are quite bad. The hotel beach is a 5 min walk (but there is a bus provided)and is lovely and secluded and you get a chance to ride on Moses the camel. The rooms are large with fridge and free safe. Cleanliness of hotel overall is excellent. The quadbiking trip into the desert was fantastic and well worth it - but you do get very dusty!! There isn't much surrounding the hotel but if you're happy to sit by the pool or at the beach then it's perfect. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone and I will be going back.

We had a really nice time the gardens and waterfalls fabulous, but drinks very expensive £2.50 for a small bottle and £14.00 for a bottle of wine, we upgraded to a marina room after been targeted at the reception at a cost of £ 120.00. We were very disappointed with the room and extras promised we complained and asked to be downgraded which they did and gave us a credit. The food in the restaurants was poor for a 5 star hotel and spoilt by waiters messing around the best one is the Italian, but on whole the staff very friendly and helpful. Not for the young as nothing to do after evening meal. We enjoyed the week but don't suppose we will go back, as wouldn't another couple we got talking to. Thanks.

The resort was excellent, although I would not advise young people to visit as there is not much in the way of evening entertainment. The pool area was very clean and tidy and the rooms were immaculate. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The only downside was that the pool was freezing cold and so was the food, and the menu was quite limited.

But on the whole a wonderful place to stay

Just arrived home from a supberb 2 week holiday staying at the Golden Resort Hotel in Sharm El Sheik. Staff so frendly and always willing to help, hotel clean, food good, but most of all weather fantastic.

If you want to travel by blue taxi then cab number 620 usually parks to the right of the hotel and driver Khaled is a very safe driver, don't forget to confirm price before getting into taxi. The only complaint that I did have was the lack of non smoking areas around the hotel.

I recommed Old Sharm beach, and Shark's Bay for anyone who just likes to walk into the sea, as at the hotel's beach you cannot walk straight into the sea due to the coral, and the jetty is always very busy with people trying to dive or snorkel and is very deep!

Also I would recommend that you try out the spa on site for a superb range of massages, wonderful.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as it was a perfect and relaxing holiday all in all.

Had a fantastic week in Sharm. Resort was spotless and staff couldn't be more friendly. The problem came on the last day. After check out found out plane was delayed hours. Went into dining room for a small bite to eat to tide us over till flight left and were rudely pushed out. Considering this is buffet what would a small snack cost them, and an understanding for inconvinences caused. Would had recommended hotel but treatment on last day ruined it and left a sour taste in my mouth.

Hotel was situated with nothing around it as a lot of new hotels were in the process of being built making this no good for people who like to walk on their holidays.
The hotel itself was nicely furnished and one of the nicest we have stayed in.
The rooms were large and every need was catered to, the staff were friendly and always at hand to make your stay a most enjoyable one.
The buffet style dining was good yet didnt really cater for children or people who dont really like anything spicy, all food was hot and the dining room was kept spotless. The poolside wasnt overcrowded making it easier to relax also amenities i.e. gym, indoor pool, jacuzzi and health spa made the stay more enjoyable.
Overall we found the stay worth every penny and are looking forward to returning later in the year.

Fantastic time

from Arneil
Just returned from the Golden Resort all inclusive. We found it to have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were always polite and pleasant at all times. The hotel has a great animation team who work hard to provide entertainment without being pushy and annoying. The food was provided buffet style and each evening they had a theme night ie French, Italian food etc therefore their was variety. They tried to cater for all and even for the picky eaters like my son who always found something that he liked. There was a very high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel and rooms were spacious with views of either the pool area or sea. The hotel had two pools which were always kept clean, plus a small indoor pool/jacuzzi if it was too hot. If you preferred the beach was a short walk across the road (5mins) or you could go back and forth in the hotels venga bus. At the beach area there was a beach bar with ice cream, drinks and at certain times hot snacks. The sand is too coarse for sand castles and you are not allowed to walk on the coral. The pier is fantastic for snorkling not to be missed !!!.
Our Rep John Baxter from First Choice was extremely supportive and reassuring throughout the holiday especially during the times of the bombings and the days that followed. We had the option of going home but we are glad we stayed to the end. We felt very safe in this hotel which is situated 20 mins from Na'ama Bay if you go by bus or hotel taxi and only 10 mins if you take the risk and go in the blue and white taxi cabs.

Fantastic Holiday

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I have just come back (1 day before the bombings in Naama Bay) from a 2 week stay at the Golden Resort and I can honestly say we had a great time. I read the reviews before we travelled and I must admit we were a bit wary due to several (in my opinion) negative reviews. We travelled with First Choice Holidays and the rep, John Baxter, or JB to his friends is one of the most friendliest and informative reps we have ever had (we have travelled extensively throughout Asia and the Carribean, usually on tailormade holidays). We found all the staff at the hotel very friendly and informative, even down to the Manager (and yes, he is a Basil Faulty look alike!) who every day enquired whether we had any problems, he always ate in the restaurant, and was always about the hotel. Yes the food was basic, don't expect Carribean all inclusive, but it was always hot, plentiful and service was good. The transport down to Naama Bay was a bit like taking your like in your own hands but we travelled by the "limo" taxi service (£6 each way), we were dropped off in the centre of Naama Bay and we told the driver when to collect us, and yes he was on time. I am a qualified scuba diver and I used the Aquarius Dive Club which was attached to the hotel (or 1st Choice anyway), I was collected on time for each days diving and returned later that day. It is a bit way out from the main resort centre but most all inclusive resorts are, if you want excitement don't stay all inclusive, but the opportunity to visit the nightlife of Naama Bay is only a short trip away.
I would not hesitate to visit the Golden Resort again and would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting 2 weeks of rest and relaxation, if you want nightlife then stay in one of the centre resorts.

Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
The food is great - each night a different theme - Arabic, Mediteran, Oriental, Tex Mex, BBQ, Seafood.

We had fresh fruit breakfast on my first day and salads the first night, absolutely no problems. The salads are wounderful, with many choices - feta, hummus, tahini, tabooli,

The grounds are fantastic, the bridges, plants, flowers and the level of care would make any gardener envious.

Service is excellent - ask and it is done. If any little problem they will resolve it fast ie. more towels etc.

The beach is perfect not crowed at all and around 13-14:00 we could count only 10 people around. There is a constant strong breeze because of the warm land and cool sea air pressure and this make is pleasant to stay at the beach - the beach bar is run by Hasan and he will look after you. Drinks are about Euro 6.00 for mixed - but you can usually count on a double shot.

We would recommednd the Arabic night at the Tradewinds - every wednesday - the seafood buffet is perfect - jumbo shrimp, crab - and a show with belly dancing and other arabic dance styles.

They have at the main pool lounge area theme night with live music - Fakir show, Hippie night with Bob Marley sounds and shisha pipes, karaoke - all starting around 21:30.

Take your snorkeling equipment or buy it there at shops at the hotel - it is not to be believed what you see diving form the jetty (pier).

We stayed at SAS half-board although if you do the all inclusive at Golden resport not to worry if you are at the beach all day you ahve the same experience and maybe better as you have a beach restaurant with a BBQ lunch and drinks.

fantastic radisson

from chellowdene34
We stayed at the radisson in December 2004 and we had a fantastic unbelievable holiday the food was great so much choice (we were not in the all inclusive hotel but went half board extra) The french restaurant was wonderful. The staff were always attentive and friendly. If you had a problem they would do anything to try and solve it even if it means breaking a tooth. We had a ground floor room overlooking the garden and pool and it was quiet and the room spotless and well decorated. The only fault I could mention would to be prepared for the coldness of the swimming pools at that time of year the pools are unheated and can be icy cold.

Lovely hotel shame abou the location

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Hotel Radisson is quite stunning to look at, the lobby and public areas are well cared for and spotlessly clean. The bar a lounge area in the lobby alway has an unpleasant smell of vomit, which we thought came from the soft furnishings. The hotel rooms are spacious, attractive and are well serviced by the staff. the pools and gardens are, again, spruce and attractive. The brochure says there are 5 pools, in fact there 4 one being a baby paddling pool. There is also advertised a Lebanese restaurant, this has been closed. The French restaurant is very overpriced as is the Trade winds restaurant near the beach. We ate there one evening are were served prawns that were so past their sell by date they had liquified! All drinks are very expensive. There is building all around but it is not ever noisy, if fact Sharm el Sheik could be summed up by this description "a 25 mile building site complete with cement works and brick making kilns". It was very hot during our stay but there is efficient air-con everywhere in the hotel. If you venture into Naama Bay or Old Sharm get the hotel to call you a cab do not take a normal taxi if you value your sanity!. On the whole a great hotel, shame about the location. If you go take lots of anti diarreha pills, I know where they got the word Gyppy tummy!

fab weather !

from maldiveslover
We stayed at the Golden Resort. Arrived the day before my 40th birthday, and the weather was gorgeous. On the morning of my birthday, the hotel delivered a cake to our room, which was a total surprise to the both of us !
The hotel was spotless. our spaceous room was cleaned everyday. The food was ok.. a bit repetative, but never suffered a bad tummmy !
The drinks were ok... beer was a tad warm and frothy, but i had the cocktails and they were great !
The pool area was lovely. both pools were clean, warm, and had great poolside bars that served snacks all day. just beware that the germans do their usual thing with the towels on the loungers !
The dining hall was large and spacous, and we always found a table, no probs.
The evening entertainment was a bit naf ! but for £10 return, you can get a cab to Naama Bay where there are shops, restaurants, and bars where you can sample the hubbly bubbly pipe ! (order what they call a limo... its not what we consider as a limo, but it is a descent car. DONT get a blue and white cab.. its like a cross between whacky races and a white knuckle ride ! )
On the evening of my birthday, the hotel delivered a bouquet of flowers from my husband, and a few days later we had yet another cake delivered !! room service was top dollar ! And to end on a really good note... we met a great couple that live 45 mins from us, and have kept in regular contact... AND... we have just booked a 10 day holiday for next April in SHARM EL SHEIKH for the four of us. (but we are staying at the reef oasis blue bay as we fancied a change !). P.S take the day trip to Cairo by plane, it takes 50 mins, and you go to the museum and the Pyramids.. ITS AMAZING ! its HOT everyday, the weather was fantastic ! VISIT AND ENJOY !

Had a great time at this hotel

from welsh mike
Our party stayed at the Golden resort (all inclusive) last week of june first week of July and had a great time.
The rooms were large and spotlessly clean with a good standard of furnishings.
The staff were quite honestly some of the politest staff I have had the pleasure of dealing with and they really went out of their way to ensure that we had a great time without any indication of an expectation of a tip in spite of previous write ups to that effect.
Evening entertainment was not up to much but then again it never is from my past experience.
Food was about average but was based toward the British taste and led to no stomach upsets.
Would I go again yes and to the same hotel which should say it all.
4 star it is not but 3+ would be about right

Very nice!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My girlfriend and I stayed in the Radison SAS hotel (not golden resort - the all inclusive hotel) and had a very nice time. The hotel can only really be described as stunning with amazing landscaped gardens and waterfalls running throughout, fantastic pool areas and an amazing beach with its own coral reef which is well worth a look at. Unlike other reviews, we found the rooms to be very spacious, well designed and extremely clean with daily visits from the cleaners. The staff were very friendly and we never got hastled for tips like we did in Naama bay (maybe we just look like poor people!).
I found the food to be fantastic with lots of choice on the evenings, however my girlfriend would disagree as she is Europes number one most fussy eater and she struggled to eat and actually fell ill for all but two of the fourteen days we were there!
The hotel is well served by local taxis and a regular shuttle bus to Naama bay, so you are not restricted to just a "hotel holiday".
My only complaint would be the cost of drinks in the hotel. Whereas the hotel was charging £1.30 for a bottle of water, we were picking up 5 bottles of water for 50p in Naama bay - and for those beer drinkers amongst you, the hotel charges £2.30 a bottle whereas if you go to Naama bay you can get a good old fashioned pint for 90p!
Lovely hotel, fantastic location and would highly recommend!

Definately not as good as expected.....

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have just come back after staying at the Radisson SAS ( not Golden Resort) and after having read the other reviews I think we stayed at another hotel as our stay there was definately NOT as good as we expected! Going off the info provided by our tour operator and the brochure we expected a 4/5 star hotel. What we got however was a 3 star at best. When we arrived we were very pleased as the lobby area was spotless and the staff very accomodating. The walk to our rooms was even better as the grounds are absoloutely stunning with waterfalls and tropical plants etc. However once in our rooms the problems began. We had paid extra for sea view rooms but what we got was more 'partial sea view', very partial!! The rooms we stayed in (3 in all) had a very old fashioned arabic theme - not nice at all, and in our room there was so much black mould and damp around the shower area that I had to use my mums shower who was staying in the room next to ours. The lampshade in our room was covered in stains and the phone didnt work along with a couple of light bulbs. We had a cot in our room for my daughter but the mattress we received was ripped the whole length of it and I personally have thrown better in the bin. The room service was very disappointing as each time we ordered something there was an item missing which took another 20 mins to arrive. At first the management and staff were very willing to help but never really did anything to resolve the issues. The food was Ok but nothing special. The saving grace for the resort in our opinion is the animation/kids club team who are possibly the most caring and friendly we have met. The rest of the hotel staff are pleasant but so obviously out for a tip! We went with our young children and although there is a playground on the beach the slides etc are in direct sunlight and get far too hot to use(never actually saw any children playing on them the whole time). We went there expecting a kids club catering for ages 3-12yrs, what we got was more a part-time playgroup open from 10am - 12pm then closed till 3pm then open 3pm-5pm. Although you could leave the children in the very capable hands of the staff if the children are very young, ours are 3 and 5yrs, much of the activities are pool based and there is not an option for children who cannot swim to do other activities elsewhere or inside.
The beach, although beautiful was very gritty and painful even with flip flops on. The pool areas are spotlessly clean as are the rest of the gardens and cannot be faulted. On the whole it was like being in 2 different hotels, a 3* inside and a 5* when you step outside. The hotel is about a 15 min ride to Naama bay which we didnt really find a problem as there is a hotel shuttle bus and also air conditioned taxis based at the front of the hotel. It was nice to get out of the hustle and bustle of Naama bay and retreat back to the Radisson. However if you want something central in Naama Bay then this hotel is not for you. On the whole the hotel is very expensive (eg LE13.00- about £1.30 for a can of Pepsi) and if the room standards were vastly improved then we would stay here again. It really is a shame as the rooms really let the hotel down- it needs to be more consistent.

ALL INCLUSIVE HOTEL

from cynders
The All Inclusive Golden Resort do now offer room service, we stayed at the end of May this year and found the hotel and it's staff fantastic, it was kept spotlessly clean throughout.
Evening entertainment was not very good though, but I'm sure it will improve with time!!
Naam Bay is only a few minutes away with a taxi/bus for good restaurants and bars.
I have no reservations in recommending this hotel to any of my friends and we will certainly be returning in the near future.
We were totally relaxed when we returned home.
